Since you're replacing the rear lowers, why not get aftermarket like Landtank's or Trail Tailor? Piece of mind to come down on them HARD and not bend.
Nah, my “come down hard” days are gone, together with my jeep days. I found the LC is a great platform as it is and trying to leave it as designed, longevity and comfort is my goal.

@Patron100LC can’t help but agree on the comfort level.. a few times have come where I needed to take a short ride during the week and that Silverado wins the coin toss over the FJ40. I think those heated seats just do me in. Add the auto trans, satellite radio, and heavily padded seats, it has an advantage.

Since were still talking importing parts… my most recent Amayama order was delivered a few days ago…ordered about 2 weeks after my knee surgery Feb 16. Long ans slow is correct…on the other hand I can get almost anything I may need. I don’t think the way you place an order and then, they get back to you within a few days about the costs of the entire package, is helpful on our end.

On the other hand for 1970’s parts…my local toyota dealer is more agonizing than a few weeks shipping time. The young guys lack exposure to the FJ40/45 series so it is always a hunt through catalogs and computers and even a light bulb

I’ve ordered parts from Toyota and Partsouq same day… partsouq arrived first lol.

Impex is slower but typically better prices with the conversion.

How does their shipping calculator work? How accurate is it? Do they charge money and then adjust? What if it's off by $$$? Need to plug in accurate sizes together with weights?
It’s a pretty accurate estimate based Gross weight at the time of ordering and first payment … but is adjusted upwards by the cost and weight of final packaging when they prepare the box/s … resulting in a second payment due. Over 8 orders, I’ve never had the adjustment more than $12. Hope this helps.

Never drove a 40, would love one though. Probably not the most comfortable though..

When I sit and search parts for my LC it's mostly for preventative maintenance, didn't have a break down yet 🤞so no rush, and it gives me time to search for quality and price.

I usually begin here in this forum for a quick idea of what's involved, then move to partsouq for the part numbers and pictures, then to Mcgeorge (changed recently) and Serra Toyota for comparison and the casual 25% off deals, then Amayama, Impex, Burjauto, magzip for pricing.

All open in separate tabs on my desktop, much easier than doing it on the phone.

Didn't use IMPEX JAPAN yet, that was my question posted above, specially since there's such a huge difference in prices, sometimes even after adding estimated shipping costs.

An explanation of their ordering process and capabilities of sending large items is appreciated if anyone has experience with them..

It is a bit annoying that they won't give an accurate cost of shipping like partsouq, but I used Amayama and no issues, still competitive. No idea why they won't ship the control arms though.. to long of an item to send?

The local Toyota dealer is only for things I forgot, or if I'm in the middle of a job and something comes up. Maybe fluids..

On other vehicles in the fleet, or cars I'm flipping, I use rockauto for an idea, but usually end up ordering from Amazon/ebay for the free and fast shipping.

It does! Thanks. Do you add estimated dimensions in the shipping calculator as well? Or you just use what they plug in there as the initial base cost?

Did you order large items like control arms from them?

I relied on their initial estimate … 2 x rear AHC shocks were the heaviest individual pieces I bought from them.

I started using Decatur, pro packing for $$$ parts. They need to redo their website though… I have to copy paste PNs in, part navigation isn’t my favorite.
Got my steering rack from them, also a CV axle, double packaged and quick delivery. Had issues with their system recognizing the part number for the rack fitting my cruiser's vin, but I forced it in and it fitted as it should, ordered during one of their discount promotions, I think I paid about $450 for a new rack shipped free.. hard to beat.

After reviewing @Africaster provided link, I think I'm gonna try IMPEX for the rear lower arms, and wait for another Toyota sale for the front lowers. The rears come up to $127 each shipped, and even after 25% off locals won't beat that.

Besides, I'd like to try them to get experienced with the process, never know when we'll need them in the future.
Our cars are getting older and parts availability might decrease soon.

The fronts are way bulkier, so it's cheaper to get here using the discounts. Hope they continue them in the future.

Back to OP, I'll continue using parsouq for smaller items, great prices even after shipping, quick delivery and great website. Also, not only for Toyota stuff.

Definitely thankful for the replies. I see how to easily order roof rack caps and door lock actuators without having major doubts about Ebay purchases. Using the Partsouq and amayama diagrams, then searching accurate part numbers on Cruisin for parts, it's simple and efficient. Thank you.
