I smell Mons Venus!
EDIT: I BELIEVE I'M GOING TO DO THE 4X4 SWAP TO MY 92 2WD PU. SORRY FOR INCONVENIENCE.

Hi all,

I'm parting out this truck I bought, but where I live the neighbors won't stand for this heap in my driveway for long, so I gotta rip this stuff fast (plenty of storage room out back, accessible by foot) and send the remains packing ASAP. No air tools, btw. No torch either, but can someone recommend one?

Is there an "order of operation" on procedure as far as chopping this sucker? What are the items not worth the time and effort to remove? Shocks, springs, lift kit, gas tank, wiring harness, fuel pump etc? Complete short axles? Help? I have some space, but not unlimited, so I don't want to start looking like a junkyard.

It has the lift kit and kinda big tires, so I figure I can use that to easily get at main components (I bought mainly for the engine core) off underneath. I know I want the tires and rims, so jack stands will help I'm sure. Getting a tranny jack (weight???) and engine hoist w/arm (engine weight, 22r-e???) to help with the loads.

Another question is will a junkyard come drag this out after it's picked clean (or will they even accept it if I flat-bedded it there myself)?

Thanks in advance for any advice and info.

If you take all the good stuff.... you will probably have to pay to have it hauled off... You can post up in the parting out section here, there's a lot of traffic there and people will let you know what they want.

Thanks, man, I'm already there. Trouble is, I figure I have a week until the neighbors get code enforcement out here to see if the truck is registered/insured. I figure to get a canvass cover, so maybe people'll think it's a collectible for a while.

No suggestions on what stuff is more of a PITA than it's worth to rip and sell?

i need a tranny:D , ha take a regular car cover, and cover it, no need to pay look in your paper there is floks that will come get your scrap for free;) , folks need good body part, lights, grills, motors, axles, any and all running gear. i believe the mod here above me;) can help you with price. also wristy is a good source for info:D he is a bit crazy but nice:flipoff2:

Well when it comes to parting out.... time=money, the more time you have the more money you can get, but since you are on a time budget, I'll take the whole thing away for $50! :D See how that works? I sold my first car with a bad tranny for $35 cause I just wanted it gone.

If you have a cherry picker and a floor jack, you could get a whole lot of parts off it and into the back yard in a day or so. Everything is worth something, look at the people parting out trucks on e-bay, evey thing can be bought even down to bolts.... but again, that takes time, I'd get the drive train and fenders/doors, hell I'd get as much stuff off it as I could, then I'd sell my house and move somewhere good! :D

such a big help:flipoff2:

I have parted out 3 trucks now. It sucks.

The last one I did was an '87 Turbo truck that I bought in December for $700, delivered to my house. I only bought it to get the R151F tranny, which is now in my basement in the process of getting rebuilt. I got the tranny and a bunch of other stuff out by myself in a couple of days, then a buddy came over and we pulled the 22RTE and stripped the cab in an afternoon. I decided I would sell off what I could on a really fast sale, then dump the rest ASAP. No eBay, it's just too much hassle. I sold the engine and complete wiring harness for $350, then a bunch of other stuff, I think I just about broke even on the deal, so other than my time I got a free R151F. The cab & frame were junk, so I took care of them with my Sawzall and a bunch of Torch blades.

A local scrap yard gave me $19 for all the metal. I gave away the rims and bald tires, and the rusty rear springs. I think the only other thing I have left is a huge box of all the interior parts, but they're going to the dump this week, I can't even give the stuff away. Oh yeah, I have a really nice sliding rear window I'm still trying to sell off.

I wouldn't use a torch to cut up the cab if I were you. It will make a lot of stinky smoke and drip hot metal and that sticky soundproofing crap all over your driveway.

Most junkyards will only come get vehicles that still have some value, and they have to be rolling on all 4 tires.

Set some realistic deadlines on when you want the parts to be gone, then be prepared to throw it away when you can't sell them. Selling on eBay is OK, but IMO it's a tremendous hassle to deal with packing some of this stuff up for shipping, then have a deadbeat bail on you when they find out how much it will cost to ship it. I once threw away a perfectly good front bumper that I was only asking $25 for, but it was gonna cost over $30 to ship it due to the size.

Post some pics of the bed and engine, we can give you an idea on how much the stuff is worth.

Good luck.

Thanks for the responses, guys; you all were helpful, and I appreciate it!

There was a small communication problem with the seller (wouldn't return my calls) and for a while, I honestly thought the deal might not happen (I need a two-wheel trailer), but we're cool now.

KLF that picture busts me up, one, because my truck's also blue, and five, that's about all that'll be left of mine as well...

If we could continue with a comprehensive price list would be great, thanks.
