Parking sensors thread

Well, I finally dug into this. Torque Pro won't read the Park Assist ECU, and didn't register any codes. Techstream threw a C1AE4, front right sensor malfunction code. I bought some cheap Chinese replacements, 4 for $25, and they didn't fix the problem, and turned off the entire front array. Lexus wants over 200 bucks for these, so hard pass on that. Have some more reputable ones inbound this week, will report back later.

Wanna know how lazy I am? These mf'ers are so hard to unplug, that barring someone sharing a miracle method for easily unplugging them without damaging the wiring harness (and yeah, I know about the clip), I'd rather buy a new one, wait two days for delivery to my door, and reinstall and hope and pray. And I have an easy access Victory front bumper with rubber grommets and no funky plastic retainer clips. Yep, I said it out loud...

So the new sensor came today. Popped it in, and issue resolved. No need to even hook up techstream to clear the code. Here's the one I bought that worked.

Bell Lexus OEM asking ~$210 for a black one, a few bucks more to color match your ride.
The 4-for$25 one didn't work, and killed the whole front array of 4 sensors (see post above).
This one from Amrxuts (dude, don't ask, I have absolutely no idea how to pronounce that brand) worked for about 25 bucks. Black is fine, since it matches my Victory front bumper. If you're sticking it in an OEM bumper you're going to have to get some touch up paint for the aftermarket ones. But hey, you save almost two hundred bucks, so there's that...

Good to see a cheap repair option.

If it holds up to the elements in let’s say a years time as well this will also confirm the durability and sealing of the unit. I’ve often wondered if OEM get compromised from high pressure driven water.

That's a possibility. With significantly reduced fender liners, and the high clearance front bumper, the corner units are pretty exposed to the elements (and the car wash wand). Because of this, they are super easy to change, unlike the center units, which, with a winch and light bar, I hope I never have to deal with.
