As the title says, it's snow wheeling time.:grinpimp::bounce::bounce:

Got a few other friends meeting up for a snow run on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. 12/09/07

Time: 0900 am Leave no later than 0930 am.

Meet Location: The 7-11/IHOP/Starbucks parking lot at West McCarran/I80 (west bound on 80 to W.McCarran turn right, immediate right, north side of the freeway) This should allow everyone to fill up on food/gas/coffee.

Destination: My favorite snow destination; Verdi Peak, so through Verdi, up Dog Valley road and keep going. This is easy dirt road any other time, so no extreme clearance/articulation needed, just low tire pressures, lunch, shovel and warm clothes. Oh yeah, tow straps.:flipoff2:

This in NOT an official BBCNN run, just an excuse to go play in the snow. Should be busting a foot or two towards the top.

We will figure out Comunication when we get there.

Any other questions let me know. Other than that; see you there.:bounce2:

I don't remember if we met there or not.

I'm thinking this is a leave the 40 at home and take the 100 run, mucho more comfort.

Looks like we will be putting up X-mas decorations and finishing up our shopping. :frown:

Have fun guys.

That sucks.:crybaby:

So for the guys that are going, for commo we will be using FRS radios. I know a step back in technology, but everyone seems to have a set of those and that way everyone can talk.

The cruiser is loaded and ready.

What an excellent trip, for those that didn't go. We had a little problem getting up Dog Valley Road, it was solid ice. My buddy Rick in his Jeep, was having the same kind of trouble that Dan J. was last year in his 40, SWB and ice with off camber road makes for interesting travel.

We had four vehicles:

My 80
Dan's Red 40
Ricks '93 wrangler (Built)
Wil's 89 F250 Flatbed on 35's

We made it up to the Verdi Pk. turnoff and were the first to head up there today, there were vehicles up there yesterday. I was in the lead and I got to bust some major drifts, which was cool. We made it all the way to the summit/fire watch tower. I was able to get all the way to the top without using my lockers.

We hiked and played around at the summit. I did get stuck right at the end, so I needed a tug to get out. We headed back down and the wind had blown some of the drifts back over the road, so I got to bust them again. When we got back down off of Verdi Pk. Road, we turned left to head over toward Boca/Stampede and out to Hirshdale. As we were heading toward the lakes, some a-hole coming up the mountain ran me off the road into the ditch and kept going. So I needed a tug to get out of the ditch.

We made it down to I80 and Will noticed that Rick had a flat. One 35" BFG Mud T/A bites the dust. Not sure if it will be fixable, so we had to change a tire.

So everyone made it home and everything went great. I know you are tired of the blabbing, so here are some pictures.

One more. This was what the wind had done to the snow on the railing around the fire watch tower. Picture doesn't do it justice.

Wow...lots of snow! I was on the East side of Pyramid today and there were places without any snow...and only about 2" where I hunted...er hiked .

Looks like you guys had fun. The off-camber icy stuff is where ATRAC really shines. If one of the FJ's would have been along it would have been interesting to watch them climb that!

Nice pics!

Which lake is that?

Thanks. The lake is Stampede.

I think the SWB rigs with bigger tires have the problem, just no weight on the tires, so rough going for them. My 80 and the f250, didn't have any problems, weight was an advantage. Dan seemed to do pretty well also, but he had aired down to about 15 psi, so that helped him.

Thanks.

The guy was in a full size Dodge and in the middle of the road, so when I slowed to avoing getting hit, there was just enough slope to put me into the ditch. The 80 just would not pull itself out.

Would have liked to have you along.
