1979 FJ55

Truck is a 1979 FJ55 W/PS Vin # FJ55101136

Funny story on the truck, I purchased it about a year ago after having my first car a 1972 FJ55 which was purchased when I was 14 and underwent a 2 year repair before I was 16 and able to drive it, but I can't seem to locate any of the old photos of it, I am going to keep searching. ANyhow this truck was originally purchased by a Toyota Employee in CA and had a H55f/split case installed at the dealership. While it has been taken over by rust eventually "maybe" it will get back close to it's original shape, though after just completely redoing the top end and enhancing a few things she'll never be back to stock.

Here's a few pics...

Hello fellow Pig owners,

I am new to the forum and I just purchased a 1974 FJ55. I am looking for a few items that I posted on Old Chub's album "wish list"

I also posted pictures of some of the projects that I am working on (e.g., gorilla glue to fix the pealing glove compartment). Thanks to Trollhole (Marshall) for posting this technique on the forum!

It would be greatly appreciated if you would let me know if you have any of the items that I am looking for. The items are posted on Old Chub's album "Wish List" and here
(https://forum.ih8mud.com/members/old-chub-albums-wish-list.html)

1) Dome light
2) Front passenger and driver window regulators
3) right front turn signal light (cf., picture with this post)
4) License lights
5) Interior door handles (not the cheap ones from SOR:crybaby:) .. . .yea I bought a set:bang:
6)Right front side marker light -complete

Thanks!
Old Chub

I was a member of the local TLCA Chapter in Dallas a few years back but relocated to Houston and now I'm here in Abq.

My past loves were a 86 FJ60, 78 FJ40, 2 96 80's and currently a 07 FJ Cruiser lifted with blacked out wheels and trim.

Hopefully I can meet up with some of you and share some ideas and tips, especially on 55's.

My latest project is a 78 FJ55 and she's in wonderful shape and almost ready for the road.

Here she is...she's in darn good shape for a 78 that spent it's life in Portland...I have used POR15 on the fender wells and floor boards, but overall she's a good runner.

Just realized my new pig is the same pig as in Posts #105 and #106. Ree724 is the old owner...just emailed him. I'm doing the sliders, new springs, etc in 2 weeks!

76 FJ55

First Piggy. Mostly stock. Previous owner obviously had a sense of humor w/ the Ch*vy emblem and the chrome bulldog hood ornament.
-Stock 2f w/ Weber 38/38 carb
-Stock 4spd tran/4x4 drivetrain
-REMOVE the Ch*vy emblem and Bulldog

Mods to be done when I have the time:
-suspension (will be used for mostly overland, dirt roads, nothing extreme)
-headers
-electronic ignition conversion
-paint
-I am sure alot more as I start mess'n w/ her

Nice Dave......a different color too. You've put a lot into her so that she doesn't rattle when she rolls. Did you just get the rig or have you had it some time?? Thanks for sharing!!

very nice.........and I'm sure you're going to get more compliments when the others see that engine bay!!!

WOW! since 78, would have been a new car then! ha sweet keep it up!

The name's Jason, I live in SLC UT.

I'm the relatively new owner of 2 1974 FJ55's.. I purchased them from "Vitesse_6" on here.

The red one has big plans:

The idea is to make the red one into an extended cab with an aussie style tray back, SOA, 35" tires, 4.7 v8 etc:
