Carlsbad,

So now that you have seen it, are you happy with it? Will it need more work or less work than you thought when you bought it?

Cheers,

Josh

Peter,

It is a happy bumper:D When I was a little kid, our FJ40 had a bumper like that, and I thought it looked like it was smiling.

Awesome thread , I have a 1977 FJ45 with quite a few home grown mods some of which where bred from this site.

Mac's FJ45 Troopy

79 FJ45 "Troopy" Right hand drive, somewhere along the way converted to an H with a Turbo Glide charger. Supposedly imported from Down Under where it started as an ambulance?? (which is why there is bright orange paint under the dune)

Gday all. This is my first post on this forum and definantly not my last. Here is my 1976 FJ45 that I purchased off eBay. This picture shows my newly installed spotlights.

Its running the original 2f motor and 4 speed transmission.

Hey Bushy, Welcome! Looks like you figured how to post pics all by yourself no worries. Nice rig dude, what size tyres you running on there?

Where in Aus are ya? Looks maybe like Vic?..........

hay mate thanks. yer worked it out nah there canberra plates i live in goulburn nsw. there 33x12.5x15 they rub on the drivers side on the ball joint and steering arm so going to fit spacers after rego..

You got power steering? Any lift?
I wanna fit 33 x 10.5s on my troopy, that will eliminate any steering arm rub, but I'm also looking at fiiting 60 series power steering which should also take care of need for massively, muscley built arms to physically turn the wheel ;).

haha yer it has power steering, not sure on the lift but its pritty high i say it has theres heaps of clearence. and the springs arent "flat" if you get me so i say there been replaced at some stage. whats done to your beast?

She's pretty much stock mate, apart from an extra passenger's side door which must have been installed shortly after manufacture for something like a mining or remote area ambulance... I dunno.

Suspension's stock but solid. I'm about to put a 5 speed from an HJ75 in this weekend. I've got a thread started on it already. I bought an HJ60 a while ago which I'll steal the power steering and disc brakes off when its rego expires. Future plans are for a camper -style setup with bed and plenty of storage space. Something I can just jump in and happily drive to any corner of this big island in.

In my opinion, these vehicles are some of the best ever built. I freakin love my troopy :D

dam.......... nah im thinking of rebuilding the 2f n geting a diff gas set up as mines sh*t and seeing how it goes...... but on the same note i dont know if its worth putting the money into it. for half the price i could buy a 60

G'day everyone, here's a pic of my 1980 HJ 45 trayback that was taken in '05 or '06 I think. Unfortunately the rust has got to it in a few areas now so it's all going to be cut out, plus it's undergoing a 60/75 series power steering conversion currently.
