Don't worry, I don't think I have even my small camping BBQ anymore.

Depending when you're thinking I might be free. I have a couple weeks off coming up, but then I'm working weekends for a month or more so I might be sol.

I'm thinking pretty seriously of taking my son (12 years old) up to this lake (near Gold River) for two nights. One day up, one day there, one day back. Not sure if that would jive with what anyone else would want or not. Maybe it's a bit too much for some of you to plan anything like that this year. Would require taking a day off from work.

That lake is within Strathcona Park, and pretty much no one goes there - except maybe a couple locals on quads. Except the road in, the whole lake is pristine and un-logged. The lake has tons of fish (cut-throat if I remember right) in it that love flies. One thing I've always wanted to do is kayak to the other end; so I may bring my kayaks. The road in is fun with some medium wheeling. I last went in on 32" tires and it was totally doable. Even 31" would be fine. 33" or larger would be best of course.

I'm free the Sept 12th weekend, and with canceling some other stuff could probably make Sept 19th, 26th or most weekends in Oct work too. Sooner is probably better, as would not want to get snowed in there! Also, while the weather is warm would be nice to allow swimming.

Anyhow, just throwing it out there....

Here are pictures from the first VI Cruiser run up there a few years ago: Lake Trip

Hmmm.

I'm off that weekend, but starting a roof job on Monday. (Leak around our chimney). So it's totally going to depend on how that snowball rolls.

I'm probably only good for one night tho.

My "to-do" list doesn't seem to shrink when I'm not home. :bang:

Pretty sure I'm drifting further and further here from what the rest of you had in mind. But thought I'd post this just in case anyone has the time. Speaking with swmbo, looks like Sept 7-8-9 is best for our family. Looks like it's going to be a solo trip for my son and I, but in the slim chance any of you have time, you're welcome to join us. Weather looks like it's going to be fantastic, and we'll be avoiding most of the long weekend mayhem.

Anyhow, I'll stop spamming this thread now and let you guys organize a more reasonable and closer single night trip...which I may also join. :hillbilly:

I'll be clinging to steep oxidized freakishly slippery tin with my toenails for those days for sure.
Going to rent some scaffolding to hopefully make it less terrifying, but it's still going to be fear and loathing cedar style.

Also going to load up on some fencing supplies because a new pup may be joining the pack soon. Been putting the fencing off but Mel has ramped up the mutt search lately.

Vacation seems to equal work for me. Dafuq is up with that?

Canceled my trip due to one of my kids getting sick....ugh. Not sure how that's going to play out exactly. All got teh COVy test this morning (swmbo works in a long term care facility, so have to take everything seriously). 24-48 hrs till we know apparently.

That’s good. There’s going to be a lot of scares I’m sure in the coming months. Fortunately this social distancing likely also works on the common flu. Not that I’m worried for myself just don’t want to be responsible for someone else’s death. It’s been a great year avoiding the older family members and most people just seeing the good one’s ;)

I was reading just that the other day. A South American country, Chile maybe?

Anyways the doctors were worried about what would happen when the seasonal flu showed up on top of the covid.

It didn't really show up, because the hygiene and distancing that works ok on covid, is really effective on the regular flu.

So, in the past, when you've caught the flu, it's basically because you're a dirty f***er who should've washed his hands more...
