thanks for illistrating that Tools, I have been ignoring those air dams did not figure they made much of a diffrence, picturing recycling hot air I can see how they could.

several of mine need to be replaced does home improvemnt type foam hold up to the heat? I coudl use 2" aluminum tape but that would be ugly.

The standard stuff holds water gets heavy and falls out, the high density closed cell warerproof stuff works well. The trick is to pinch it between the parts that your sealing, if the gap is 1/2" use 1" or thicker foam, loosen the part and push it back, opening the gap, apply the foam and reassemble trapping the foam in the gap.

The bigger stuff is sometimes in the garage door section of the store.

So today just had new modded fan clutch put in, along with replacement Rad cap.

Stuck in back to school traffic in Henderson NV..essentially idling for 30+ minutes..outside temp.is around 105 degrees.

Coolant temp got up to 221 before I turned off ac and it dropped back down to around 213. However one of the first posts in this thread mentioned it's worse when in gear.. so I'm sitting here in neutral now. and wouldn't you know temp dropped d9wn to 208 and dropping

What does that mean for me? if temp climbs when in gear..but drops in neutral.. any ideas??

When you sit in traffic, the transmission will get hot in gear because the clutch is slipping and will usually get up to 180-200F. Your coolant temp is already hot due to ambient temperature outside. The coolant temp is affected by the hot tranny fluid entering the radiator and further heat up the already hot coolant. If it is over 100F, i would suggest only turn on AC when the rig is moving. Never turn on AC when you are off-roading.
