Plenty of threads on this when searched but no definitive answer. Thanks for any input.

I just ordered new oem outer door weatherstrips (bottom of window) and I’m looking to know if anyone can tell me if these are the parts with chrome trim to replace the current pieces. Or, are they the black weatherstrips that require me to re use the chrome trim along the bottom of the window? Hopefully this makes sense. Here is a pic of the current situation, which I think allows too much water down into the door along the end where there is no weatherstrip.

Parts ordered (20 total clips too):

6823090A01 WEATHERSTRIP, REAR DOOR GLASS, OUTER

6818090A01 WEATHERSTRIP, REAR DOOR GLASS, OUTER

6821090A02 WEATHERSTRIP, FRONT DOOR GLASS, OUTER

6816090A02 WEATHERSTRIP, FRONT DOOR GLASS, OUTER

I just installed all four of those today. I took my chrome strips off and installed the felts without them. I'm pretty sure you can still install over the chrome though. All the slots will still line up.

Awesome, thanks for the clarification. Any tips for removal so I take it easy on the chrome? Thanks again.

Some one probably has a better way. But, I just kinda pulled the old felts off. I think the old plastic clips are going to break no matter how gentle you are with them.

Does anyone have the part number for the clips that are needed?

Chrome trim is NLA i believe, replacement felts are apparently still available or full blackout version form 70series fits and numbers are floating around on here somewhere.

black felts come with white clips. the rear doors don't accept the new clip with the pointy barb that goes in the hole in the door. The barb will fit the front door holes. remove the chome piece, throw away the old fuzzy. Remove the new or used white clips. Put the rubber piece on the chrome. Clip them together with the white clips. Line up the clips by sliding them up or down the rubber/chrome to align with the holes in the door (front doors). Set the piece in place and beat with your fist until the clip snaps in. The window can stay in, no need to take the panel off. Rear doors...if you get lucky you can remove the old fuzzy aka felt without the clips breaking or falling out. If you get lucky simply push the new rubber down on the chrome and into the old clips. If the clips do fall out or break you'll have to take the panel off, take the screws out of the regulator, slide the window out of the reg. channel. remove the regulator, set the window in the bottom of the door, remove the rear metal window run (don't forget the screw at the top under the rubber weatherstripping. ) Pull the fixed window forward along with it's rubber. Remove the fixed window by tilting inward. Then pull the chrome piece out.
