ANNOUNCING THE OTP CANADIAN KNUCKLE RAFFLE

To introduce our goods to the Canadian market and to show some love for semi-antique Toyotas, Overland Truck Parts will have a monthly drawing to give away a complete knuckle rebuild kit as shown below. Components include everything you need to do the job, including some neat Marlin Crawler oil seals. The seals included in the kit are fine in most cases, but if your spindles have a lot of wear (miles or harsh conditions), Marlin’s seals are a nice upgrade.

Later 40, 60 and early (through 10/90) Series rigs take the SH3, while 80 Series take the SH5 kit. If you have a pre-79 40 Series, we can provide a kit for you as well.

To win either of these kits, here’s what you do:

1. PM me your name, contact info (phone and email) along with a snap of your rig, which we will post up when you win.
2. Entries close on the second Friday of the month (in this case, December 11th) with the drawing held the following day.
3. My beautiful assistant Cathy will draw slips of paper with contestant names from a hat.
4. We will post up report of the successful contestant, with their rig’s photo.
5. Beauty, spelling, style, etc. DO NOT COUNT – this is all about getting lucky!

At some point, everybody driving one of these rigs needs a rebuild and the Terrain Tamer kits are the best around – Toyo bearings, OEM quality seals, gaskets and felts – they are complete and very easy to work with. If you need some wheel bearings, we can add those to the box at a small fee.

The SH3 knuckle kits retail for US$114 and the SH5 goes for US$144.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
The first and second runner-ups will each receive a Terrain Tamer beverage mug (coffee, tea, beer?) plus a TT baseball cap (shown on my kitchen counter at bottom) and we pay the postage!

Thought I would throw up a picture of the wheel bearing kits..

My first sale of this kit was to Rob M long time Landcruiser guru, he particularly like the quality and thickness of the washers.

Those are nice looking kits. So the complete knuckle kit for a 40/60 is $144 US, landed here or plus shipping/taxes/duty?
The Marlin seal that's the axle seal, not the spindle/inner wheel bearing seal, correct?
And how much for the wheel bearing kit? Is that rear wheel bearing seal a standard one or a Marlin one? (if Marlin even makes one for that application)

And for the contest, can I send you a photo of the pieces of my project truck that is awaiting to be built?

Firstly Mat the SH3 set is the unit for 40/55/60 disk brake units are 114.00US after duties and brokerage you are sitting at 169.00 Canadian plus taxes and shipping from Nanaimo.

This kit also comes with half moon retaining rings anodized, this is the first kit I installed with those mentioned parts..nice surprise not scraping, cleaning and painting the old rusty units.

Wheel bearing kit per side with gaskets and seals as per pictured above (WBK2) 65.99..

Marlin inner axle seals front 16.32, they are optinal as the kit comes with a factory quality inner seals.

Working on rear axle bearing pricing and what comes in the kit..

Are the studs and cone washers sold separate or included in the kit? Do you also offer the ones for the hub? Those ones get beaten on a lot as well and it would be nice to replace them occasionally.

Stud cone washer and washer are sold together..might try and scrounge up some nuts to go along with them..

Been reading a fair bit about marlin seals in 80 series axles, seems the full time 4 wheel drive or something else is causing them to fail according to a thread I found today.

Let me know if you want the seals.

Do not buy Marlin Crawler Inner Axle Seals...


Glen, this is the thread I had crossed..

The information is a bit iffy, I will call Marlin and ask him the stats of the seal failure ( great guy hung out 8 years ago in Texas for three days and shared a cabin)

I was in Fresno for a month or so this spring, lived at the Best Western a mile down the road from Marlins Shop. So I
would walk down and yak with Marlin and Mike ( Big Mike on forums - #1 son of Marlin )
The seals came up in discussion. Marlin indicated that a change had been made in light of past problems. At the time I
was unaware of past problems as I had a set in my 40 and it didn't leak. So I think a phone call would be in order to talk
with Marlin. They are both completely stand up guys, if you have a question or concern call and ask. Especially if you ask specifically to speak with Marlin, and indicate there is a question on the IH8MUD forum.

Yes I also have run them in my BJ42 for over two years now and not leakage at all?

Although after checking the factory 80 seals in the kit I have to say they are a big upgrade from 40s and up factory seal.

I've had the Marlin seals in my 40 since 2008. No leaks.
