I have a 1982 FJ40 for sale. A fellow in California is interested in it. However, emissions have been removed. He wants to know if it all can be added back. As I told him anything is possible but it all emission items must be present and functioning to pass smog in Ca (as far as I know). I have the original carburetor but little else. Checking to see if anyone has all the original equipment removed from a 1982 or like model. I think it would be a lot of work to go back to original but told him I would ask the group.

Thank you,..

AFAIK any of the 81-87 stuff should work, I don't think there was any changes thru those years.
40 or 60 series stuff should work

When I think about this further I think it will be a nightmare and cost prohibitive. Carburetor change (has a weber), gas pedal change, catalytic convertor.... goes on and on. I think I will tell the guy to find one emission compliant would be the way he should go.

I would agree. That’s a deep rabbit hole.

I have several 81+ emissions computers, refurbed, tested, ready to go.

I don't have much left but I do have a nearly NOS EGR for it. Have been holding onto it but if someone will put it to good use, I don't have a need. Bought it brand new, ran it to pass CA smog, then removed. Roughly 3 months of driving time. Painted housing and pipe high temp black to prevent rusting. Still has original yellow zinc.
