depends on what you want to do with it. the 3.0 has a reputation for head gasket issues, it was recalled, make sure it's done.

It's IFS so that may be a limiting factor for you, otherwise, put some tires on there and wheel the pi$$ out of it.

figure about $3-4k in mods to get it where you likely want to be. looks like it is going to sell for around $5k
Other one on t-tora not bad, would wheel and deal on it and spend some cash on the basic repairs.
Thinking about my next Toyota. Looking for feedback on this one.

I know someone that has a 73 Fj40. It has the frame powdered coated. No drivetrain. He called me the other day looking for a buyer.

looks like you need to act fast on it before the scavengers get to it. I see it was just priced at $4500 which is fair considering the list of mods. If you do buy it my finders fee will only be the extra top shift transfer case he has with it...

I would say you need to know what you want...a wheeler only? A wagon to carry gear and wheel? Highway manners?

The 4 runner is a nice platform, lots of parts, and a good wheeler.

I look at a 4runner sort of like a Jeep, but more reliable. It is easily modified and repaired, very common, and you can customize it to your liking for minimal funds.

You know about FJCs.

Knowing you, seeing you wheel, and knowing you like to do a few different things (wheel, camp, cruise, race, etc) I would think a 4runner or 1996-1997 FZJ80 would be perfect for you.
