There are some systems you can check just with terminated wire on OBD port but seems engine & emissions doesn't really have a way to do that easily. Most of those codes can be picked up by general purpose OBD reader.
I always recommend OBD Link as is a close portable Techstream
It isn't the cheapest but software was written for the adapter and it also receives regular firmware updates.

I just went and bought a code reader and it looks like it’s a different problem. Unfortunately...that is one of those transmission codes many haven't had good luck with
They're telling me that my '13 doesn't qualify for this since there's no JLG on the records. I saw the same at Lexus drivers. This correct?

Since mine is a '13, wonder if this is something I should stick in my vehicle service folder to easily find in this should come up on mine.
I'll have to research to see if it's been done or not. But I do believe my GX is up to date on all service notices.

Yeah, I've said to myself before when I've see/read something on MUD that I think I'll need to reference in the future, "Don't forget where you read that!" and sure enough a time will come when I want that info and can't find it!

Okay, called Lexus and they said it was repaired in 2017 so that's why it didn't show up when I went to Lexus last week.

Okay, Local Lexus tells me there's no JLG on the car so they're going to charge me to look at it.
Lexus HQ tells me it's veen fixed.
Now what? Just do the mod myself? Or call Lexus again and talk them through everything?

What is the build month on your door frame VIN plate?
I am wondering if some of the latter 2013 models are not included.
There were 47,573 460s sold in the US according to these Lexus documents

The TSB states that 39,200 vehicles are included in JLG so that leaves out 8,373 unaccounted for.
