I just got this a/c pump off a pretty new freightliner truck the other day, and was wondering if I could use it for on board air. Here's the specs from it.

Make: Sanden
Model: U 4819
Oil Amt: 300cc
Oil : SP-30
Ser: 01888811071

If it's not the right pump no biggie, I got for free any ways.

Problem with yours maybe getting a v-belt cheaply.

But it should work. Any air compressor will work. But the important thing is having an internal oil for lubrication. Normal modern air compressor get it from the freon. Which isn't soo good on tires. You don't want oil in the air supply. But I have seen on the internet guys using standard air compressors and running pre oilers and after oil seperators.

Not familiar with this compressor, but it sounds like it has a crankcase resevoir. (300 cc of SP-30 oil) I would suspect is can be used with no oiler. Even looks like there is a fill/drain plug on the side.

I had to throw out the pump today, after taking it apart I found out that the clutch is broken. So I'll just pick up a york pump then buy a new clutch.

Yes, this compressor can be used as on OBA. I've used it as well others due to the small form factor. You have crazy CFM since there are lots of pistons doing the work. One friend, simply runs Slick 50 oil through it then empties it out for the season. He then runs the thing dry which blows my mind.

You'll have oily air since there isn't a seaparate oil reservoir. On my Range Rover I separated the oil from the air then reintroduced it back into the incoming air. Like the York, the outlet air is VERY hot and you'll need a proper temp rating hose.

My unit had dual V belt pulleys and the model # 508 (or was it 805?) I believe. They're a dime a dozen and found in lots of cars.

Good luck and have fun.
