Thanks to all who helped get this event up and going, it was a great time and my son (5 1/2) said it was "cool".

Oh, and for those who suffered the wrath of the light-saber, my son says he'll be more careful next time. :D

Finally recovered after sleeping about 10 hours last night. Had some catching up to do!

I had a blast. UC, Rick, TTT ACC and everyone else that made this happen did a great job. Couldn't believe how many people showed up, but certainly understand why they did!.

It was great seeing everyone and meeting all the new faces. The raffle was kind to me too... lot's of great SWAG.

About an hour into the Saturday ride I overheated on the trail... boiling hot. Waited about 15 minutes (a long 15 minutes) and started up again with the heat on and no more problems all day other than having the heat running. I'm sure Josh (my passenger for the day) was wishing he'd picked another ride!

Rode home on Sunday with the ACC clan just in case, but no issues at all. Thanks for letting me tag along! Going to have the fan clutch and thermo checked out but not expecting anything major.

If you happen to see a picture of me with a muffler somewhere other than on my truck, it's a doctored photo. You can't trust Tkinze :flipoff2:

Can't trust me??? 2 nights around the fire and already I'm tagged. :flipoff2: Pics and write up coming but after 12 hours of sleep last night & 6 cups of coffee this morning I'm still feeling a little groggy.

BTW, who started that conversation about the shampoo Friday night???

WOW!! I am very jealous and TIRED. I can only boast 4 3/4 hrs of sleep last night. I really need a 12 hour nap. I am glad someone is doing it.

For those who like shampoo

Woody--great job spotting. I know you're still a rookie at this and everything (sarcasm here) but you gots skill!!:lol::lol:

Great meeting you and thanks for letting me drive the Taco.

Hey Gang! Thanks for such an amazing turnout at the UC OTMT event this year. The event was made possible by the help of Marshall (trollhole), Steve (eventhough), David (carp) and Matt (89s rule). And all the old members and new members who signed up on line, which made my life sooo much easier. We learned a lot this year about throwing an event this big and will apply those lessons to GSMTR 09 and OTMT 09 next year. Please continue your support of UC events with the same enthusiasm as you did for this one and we'll be the best club this side of the Mississippi!

I was in awe to see so many already in camp on Thursday when we arrived.

Then the camp size doubled on Friday and more rolled in on Saturday. What a great event! Lot's of old friends, new members, plus our friends on the Toyota Trail Team and the guys from ACC - Michael, Brian and Daniel.

Mike and Brian helped Terry out with a carb issue and Todd with a brake problem before hitting the trails on Friday.

Now for the pics!! Michael Harness led the "hard core" group on Friday up Trail 12 and down 11. Our group included Mike's 40, my FJC, Brian's 80, Terry's 40, Roger's 40, and Todd's 80. Once we got to the intersection of 3 and 12 we left Terry's 40 and Todd's 80 at the bottom of School Bus. We had a great day and the weather was perfect. Light breeze and sunny skies. I wanted to see if I could conquer School Bus after my last attempt 18 months ago. Mike chose his line, scrambled up and came back to spot me through it. It took only a few minutes to get Dig-Dug into position and I scrambled up it without pulling line. (Although my winch got a workout later on the trail :)) I avoided damage almost all day long until I crept a little too close to the guardrail coming down 11. I lost a rear window and added a little more distinctiveness to my quarter panel.

Looks like you guys had a blast. Not to hijack, but I am heading to Tellico Tuesday and am looking for trail report. What trails should I hit in my stock and locked 80 and not break anything? Thanks guys.

I can't give a definitive response but I had to reply for someone with a John Bell avatar.
They've closed almost all the really gnarly bits except Schoolbus and Guardrail. I think 4,5,8 and 3 should be doable in any locked 80. Or open for that matter if it's still as dry as this weekend.
You didn't mention lift or sliders, so 6 might be iffy for you. They've put rock in where there used to be dirt, some pretty big rocks, and it gets a bit lumpy here and there. You may need a spotter occasionally on 6.
That's all I did, and I don't really know a stock 80's capabilities.
Maybe an 80 driver can confirm/dispute my analysis. But Tellico has been pretty well tamed with the new trout friendly mods. Be sure and check at the Ranger Office to pick up a new map updated with closures or you'll do some back-tracking.
Have fun.

IMO, go up Trail 6 from the pay station on the TN border...take the hard right at the 3-way onto Trail 4, then u-turn back left onto Trail 8 and go to the top of Trail 9 (closed)....u-turn back down the way you came up and turn left again and continue on Trail 4 all the way back out to Trail 1.

If you still have time, re-enter on Trail 5, straight onto Trail 4, take Trail 3 in and back, then follow Trail 4 across and come back down Trail 6.

One rig, not many stops....should be a full day....

good run for a solo rig, not much to get you into trouble...

Had a great time this weekend! Thanks to Rick for organizing such a great event (good job on the weather order, it was perfect!) We really appreciate Atlanta Custom Creations giving so much support to this event. You guys ROCK! Also, thanks to the Trail Team for the breakfast and being prepared with the little things we had forgotten. Thanks to Heather for the TreadLightly class and the overview of what's going on at Tellico.

A big thank you goes out to everyone who came and made this such a great event. It's people like you who make these events fun, and it's you who keep us all coming back next year, the wheeling is just an excuse. Looking forward to next year.

Pics to come, camera at home

I made sure to give Faye the "bidness" one last time before I left. She was willing to take all I could give her, she's such a sport! Hope she can be there next year.

These are from Saturday's run on Upper 2.

I gave it a couple tries, then decided that it only looked worse beyond this first ledge. "Painted Rock" a nasty little point on the passenger side just past this ledge had lots of fresh paint on it. I did not want to donate any more on this day.:p

Although backing off obstacles like this one can be almost as harrowing... I got a little tippy backing down the approach, fought the urge to over-brake and just rolled through the bouncy descent. But my face had turned ghost white in the process.

DSC02687.jpg

Next Brian wedged his 80 up the same ledge and we spent great care keeping him upright and damage free. Lots of strategically place straps and even some creative winch/snatch block usage.

We eventually got him past Painted Rock, but he took a ding to his rear quarter as well. It'll buff right out.:D
