OME vs. Alcan springs, who has experience?

I'd look more places than two companies. HFS makes some great springs and they are designed longer for 4" lifts to provide proper shackle angle.

Just an FYI. My buddy runs them on his 60 (Durango60) and loves them.

i'm at 5 inch springs with 1inch longer in length and inch longer shackles. i'm going hi steer to eliminate bump steer. i already had longer brake lines and shocks.

Where are OME's that cheap?

GLTHFJ60,

Where are you seeing OME's for $98 in front and $110 in back??? Are those the dakar springs or what???

Anyone. Do Alcan springs have a website or something?

Those are the Dakar prices (approx.)

The original OME's are no longer available (there may be a couple kits kicking around, but not from ARB USA)

what do you mean by "collars"? are you talking the military clamps? those aren't even close to the the ubolt plate, which has me confused.

Not the spring clamps, this is at the axle. On my FJ-62 these was a u shaped channel that goes around the sides of the spring pack and in between the spring pack and the axle right at the center bolt. It holds the rubber spring pads. Sorry, I can't find a good picture right now and since these are re-used with the Man-a-fre ubolt flip kit mine are packed away.

The cause of the broken leaves is not 100% clear but when I offered this hypothesis to Alcan they said it was possible. I also want to make it clear that I'm not trying to blame or discredit Alcan in any way. I (and the shop that installed the springs for me, this is why I do all my own work now) should have questioned the leaf count mismatch prior to installation.

i didn't use that bracket part. iirc, i did use the rubber part, but i'll check when it's daylight.

I'm not running that part any more and I'm not running the rubber pads. When I put the rear springs back on I used Man-a-fre's u-bolt flip kit. They said not to use the rubber pads and supplied a center pin adapter (basically just a thick metal washer) to compensate for the different between the diameter of the center pin and the diameter of the hole in the spring perch.

Have you looked at the 2.5" kit from BDS. I just recently rode in a 60 with this kit and the ride was nice. Hes had the springs for over a year and seems to like them. This is the only experience I have with them though. Seems a good bit cheaper than OME.
