You guys talk about unbolting the front shocks? just checked mine out....the Drivers side shock appears to have the bolt spot welded in place after it was tightened up....guess im not gonna get that off right away. I think i'll just get the front up on jack stands and use my body weight/ bottle jack to move either axle up or down and slip the spacers in.

You've got to get one side off (top or bottom), so you can just unbolt the bottom of the shock from the axle. That's what you'd want to do any way, I think it's easier that way. I don't think you'll be be able to get the spacer in without the shock off.

who welded your shock bolts? They should have a nut and a lock nut, or just one self locking nut. Like I said, better to do your own work. :flipoff2:

Semlin-did the same thing here.

I like a stiff ride. (I actually like the ride that the 40 has with high-arch lift springs)

Also, on occasion, I carry A LOT of weight. Nice to be able to fill the back of the truck up completely with enough gear and firewood to sustain 2 guys for a week and still have the truck drive better than stock.

I imagine that both of these possibilities could be the case.

Semlin. At the time i got the springs from Ironpig, they were used so that saved me a little money and he couldnt get new springs for a few weeks. That was one reason. Also, I hope down the road to add a front ARB and winch and possibly a rear bumper(im just a highschool student with limited casdh).

And in regard to what GA said. I used to drive an 82 fj40 with 4 inch lift springs, it was a very stiff ride so the ome heavies feel pretty nice. It was an improvement over my stock 240k mile springs, thats all that mattered.

Now, if only i could find this small vibration/grinding noise that is coming from the rear at almost any speed over 20mph. Its very slight, doesnt seem like its in the axle or anything, i'm gonna get up under the truck today and check out exhaust and stuff. I have a very similar problem coming from the 100. any ideas? It comes with just light pedal pressure or just after letting off the gas...

I am having the tranny rear and front output bearing repalced tomorrow due to the exact same vibration and noise. My sounds is prominent at 60km/h and sounds like a colapsed bearing at 110km/h.

Bongani,

You may be right but honestly i hope your not. The only reason i think this isnt my problem is because it started right after i did the lift...Well please let me know how it goes, I.E. cost and time
Thanks, Brandon
