I recently purchased some "Olive Brown" from NAPA, that I used Cool Cruisers color code for , and when my 78 fj40 was sprayed, it came out to the most god awful color imaginable. It wasn't even close. Anyone have any idea why??

pics would help. Wonder if you got the Pueblo brown and the olive green codes mixed up? THough I dig the olive.

If it's from NAPA, it is probably their "Crossfire" line. I am using their SS Urethane - it is good paint (actually made by Sherwin Williams). Did you tell the person at the counter that you wanted the Toyota paint code "653"? This is the Olive paint, although some call it Olive Brown as well. I will tell you this, if you are spraying over a light colored primer like grey - the first few coats don't cover all that well and it looks yellowish. On subsequent coats it will darken up and look more uniform. It's one of the best colors for a classic Cruiser IMHO. If for some reason you picked up the wrong color, just scuff up the existing paint with some 400 grit and recoat with the new paint - should be fine.

I concur . White primer under a color, will give you a cleaner, sharper brighter finish, whereas a gray primer will give you a "dirtier" finish.
