Okay another weird sound question

Longer wheelbase makes autolockers not as twitchy as others have said. They do have a learning curve, like grocery store parking lots but way cheaper than air or electric. If you want all your road manners back then selective locker is what you need to install.

I should say I can still be persuaded but when viewing the operators manual of just the Aussie and Richmond lockers, one finds a lot more information with Richmond (torqmasters) than with the Aussie. They have a more detailed view witch would be a big help for a person that has no past dealing with a diff locker making it a big consideration. The information given by Richmond in the "sounds heard while in turns" will also suit the Aussie locker and with the statement will not scuff the tires is helpful. I still think that word of mouth is one of the best forms of information so yours is kindly noted.

I had installed a Detroit locker years ago and really like it but they are not at a warm and fuzzy septum for cost if you have house full of kids.

So if the R&P gears have developed a memory that makes the strange noise I am experiencing and the spiders are just worn out I am defiantly still open to suggestions and the cost for either one of these are in the ballpark.

Friend of mine had a lock right years ago and was getting on the freeway from the dirt shoulder in his fj40, he hit pavement with one wheel, the other in dirt and spun sideways and rolled on the freeway!!! Definately a learning curve!

From what I have read you are correct about the Lock Right, but the Aussie, Spartan, Power Trax and a few others all have some kind of caution when it comes to use but that's the nature of the beast I guess, just have to be a little more diligent when driving.

Had a chance today to pull the spider gears to take a look at the condition of the gears and the shaft, all looked real good other than one of the spider gears bearing washers has a crack in it as seen in the picture. I have no clue how that happened but will need to replace it, anyone have a spare you maybe willing to sell?

Got the date set with that 15 year diff pro on Saturday, so we will know if more is needed other than a pinion bearing replacement. If it all passes but maybe a 50/50 on the spiders I can at least get the R & P setup and install a locker when funds are available. PM sent to RustyNailJustin.

You will not need one if going with a locker.

He will if he's installing a lunch box locker. Unless they started sending them with thrust washers. It has been a long time since I have used one of those.
