Hi all,
I just manual swapped my 1kz surf. Test drove it up and down the street, works great but there was some oil dripping off the pan when I parked it. Wiped it off and went for a longer drive, same small amount of oil dripping off the pan. It appears to be running down the backside of the oil pan between the foam and the oil pan, with nothing coming out the hole in the bottom of the bellhousing. When I did the transmission I also did the rear main seal and took the rear main seal housing out and RTV'd it back in.
So I've narrowed it down to either I bodged the rear main, or the foam between the oil pan and bellhousing cover plate is saturated with oil and releasing it when it gets hot and is not an issue. (I got the foam from a parts truck that was leaking oil)
I would expect if it were the rear main go see at least some if not all the oil coming out of the bellhousing hole? Can anyone speak to this?
Also I'm driving 5 hours in a snow storm tmr morning, so I really hope it's not rear main.
Thanks 🙏
