Sort of a thread revival. This is on my Tacoma.

Guess I'm in the market for a new fairlead.

I'm between the Warn offset hawse and Factor55. Walmart has the Warn for sub-$100 and looks like the F55 is on sale for $132 on their website. I like the additional thickness of the F55 to clear some of the bumper.

I haven't looked yet, but I suspect I could get a roller fairlead with the poly (or other non-metalic) rollers for about the same price.

I'm using a Summit racing roller fairlead in my ARB. It's comes with two sets of holes and fits perfect. Of course I'm using steel cable at the moment, but there is no reason you can't use a roller fairlead with synthetic as long as the rollers are new and clean or you can replace them with polymer rollers.

Just an update here. I contacted Warn to see what they recommended and also inquire about the depth of their offset fairlead. I was told that it was 1" thick and that I should contact ARB. I asked, sort of in jest, if they had any kind of program where I could swap the fairlead that came with my winch for the offset one or if they had any scratch and dent options. Overall, Warn was very friendly and helpful, but unable to really do much good.

So I contacted ARB. Turns out they have a "hawse fairlead spacer kit" that they sell. Most everywhere had it listed for $117 and various add ons like tax and shipping. I contacted a vendor who has done "private pricing" for me in the past and was told the same $117 plus shipping. I then reached out to Truck Brigade via Instagram (they are active on many forums also) and got a quote for $110 shipped.

Aries has an offset fairlead for ~$45, I found the ARB offset fairlead for $95 (most sites over $100), and Factor55 has a 1.5" thick for ~$130. I figured for about the same price as an offset fairlead, I ought to go with the recommended solution from ARB. So I ordered through Truck Brigade and had it at my door in about 3 days.

The Factor 55 option looks great and fits perfectly. Spendy but worthy

So do I need the fairlead spacer kit if I’m going to use an offset fairlead?

No. Use either or.

Which offset fairlead are you going to use? I went with the spacer kit because it is what the bumper mfg recommended and pushed the fairlead further out, which will help to protect the rope in the event of an off-angle pull.

Ah yes, just the post I've been searching for thanks @CowboyTaco . My goal is to get my hawse style fairlead pushed out more so it doesn't rub the bumper on angled pulls. You can see how this is a issue on some of the pictures posted in this thread. I'm going on 20+ emails with ARB since they can't seem to tell me if this Hawse Fairlead Space Kit ( 3500600 ) will work with my bumper. Their product page for my bumper (3413050) shows this part listed so I'd like to think it will work but I have my doubts.

I'm in a 02 cruiser so we use the older style bumper and the winch mounts feet down to the subframe, not into the bumper feet forward like all the post I've been seeing.

So, my fairlead mounting holes are slightly higher up, centered right in the opening. I see in your picture you have a feet forward mount and that adapter kit mounts to the offset lower hole, which I assume is secured to your winch on the other side ? So I don't think it will work for me =[

I would think ARB would have a quick YES or NO, but instead they insisted that they don't make bumpers with feet down mounted winches, lol uhhh yeah you do, lots of them. I then decided , screw it , I'll just order it and test it out but asked if they can be flexible on returns. I was told, only if new, unopened in the box. Gee thanks a lot ARB.

Part of me just wants to get rollers and move on but synthetic rope + roller paranoia is taken over.

It's not fresh in my mind, but let me know if you need any additional pics or need to talk anything through.

Seems you shouldn't have THAT hard of a problem returning an unused item. Hope it all works out for you.

Just a thought, what about ordering on Amazon? Their return policy is pretty generous....if you can find the part.

Thanks for the response. My problems were solved by ditching the hawse and installing a Bulldog Winch branded roller fairlead in the bumper.

I couldn't find the ARB spacer kit on Amazon but didn't look too hard, that is a solid idea.

All good for now , not letting rope / roller paranoia get to me =]
