Missed the ride of a stock 200... So decided to fix that issue

Going to need to get the rear entertainment remote and headphones if anyone knows a good way to go about that for a 2011.

Not sure on remote. For headphones the kids use these.

I have the factory headphones and remote from my 2013. I'm pulling everything out, so if those will work for you, make me an offer!

Spent the last couple of weeks making some updates to prep for a couple of events — Pure4x4 Basecamp and Toyo Trailpass. Should’ve snapped some photos wheeling on the trails up there, but all I got was photos of the truck at our booth.

Lighting & Wiring
  • Installed a sPOD to help keep vehicle working clean, and prep for lighting. Mounted the switch in the cell phone holder area in front of the gear selector
  • Baja Designs OnX6 40” light bar for flood
  • Baja Designs LP6 to run as spots
  • Baja Designs Squadron Pro for fog/ditch lighting
Quality of Life Stuff
  • Inspired Overland Carbon Rooftop Tent - at only ~6” high (closed) and 80lbs, this is the perfect rooftop tent for my needs. Unbelievably comfortable and spacious for the wife and I, so couldn’t be happier. I also opted for the new crossbar add-on that allows me to mount additional storage on top when needed!
  • ARB Awning
Cosmetic
  • Started the de-chroming journey with the front grill. Painted the surround with a Krylon color close enough (will properly paint later) and painted the grill matte black. Love the way it turned out
  • Finally refinished a horribly faded PS headlight. The PPF was old and crispy, and an absolute pain to remove.

Yes I know there is a 200 series picture thread, and naturally this covers both the Land Cruiser and the LX 200 series cruisers.. I thought it would be cool if we started a LX picture thread since most of the pics on the 200 series pic thread are of the LC.. I am having a hard time finding pics of LXs, for every 10 pics 1 is an LX...So come on fellow LX owners, post up stock/modded/wheeling/mall cruising/ urban wheeling pics, ha.. We all know the LX is the pinnacle of the 200 series, so let's show the LC owners what there missing :flipoff2:...

Did you say SHOT show? Not sure which side of the table you end up on, (buying or selling at SHOT) but it seems we may know each other. 👍
My mind is BLOWN to run into you on here. We don’t know each other but I’ve been a fan of your work for a long time man.

Hmm..

BFG KO3 on alphaequipt echo. +35 offset
285/75/r17E
AHC lift on the front 1", 0.25 rear.
No rubbing when going forward, minor rubbing at full clock in reverse, heat gun should fix it.View attachment 3706601
How are you liking the KO3s? Have you run KO2s or other ATs in the past? Trying to get a sense for difference from prior generation and as compared to Toyo AT3 and Falken Wildpeak?

Before this I had BFG Trail terrain 275/50r20, SL load rating on some black rhino rims, so I can compare with those. They were installed on the vehicle when I purchased it, still have about 80% life left on them, I might sell that set, or keep it, haven't decided. They were good, but I wanted more sidewall, and I'd always be a bit concerned about them off-road, did a few nasty trails on them, but I rode them gently. They were excellent on pavement and never failed me, I did 4 off-road trips on them and a few long road trips.
I wanted something tougher, like the rest of the vehicle, overbuilt, so one less thing to be worried about in the wilderness.

To make the 34s fit I moved the liner forward instead of the heat gun, which worked out great, drilled like two new holes in the plastic liner to adjust it, took all of 10 mins per side.

KO3s feel much more planted on the road for sure, more noise, but not too much. The ride is a bit stiff, I did a mild AHC lift and put E rated tires so that's expected, but well within reason, I like how it rides, a lot tbh. Haven't gone off-road on these yet, just put around a 100 miles on dry pavement.
My previous wheels were heavy, but the tires were quite light for an AT, with current setup, wheels are much lighter but each tire is like 61lbs.
Net net I gained only 3lbs of unsprung weight per tire so I'm not noticing any drastic changes in MPG or acceleration, but I ride it like a big SUV and have reasonable expectations from it when it comes to speed, acceleration and on road agility.

I was choosing between Toyo AT3, BFG KO3 and Falken AT4. I think b/w these three narrowed down options for my purpose KO3 offers the best balance, don't think you can go wrong with any of the above, each has their strengths and mild weaknesses.
Per my research,
Falkens better on snow and wet conditions... But heavier by 6lbs per tire
Toyo all round good performance... Recent recall was a concern
KO3 great off-road dry performance and most robust out of the three

I think they will all struggle in hardcore mud.

Long post, sorry!
