Did some off roading over the last week. My 14 year old daughter drove up Archangel top picture. And we also did crown point mine trial. Both trails are a good 2 grades tougher than normal due to 5 weeks of steady rain…. Almost got stuck (closest I’ve been in a few years) on a massive washout on crown point.

Always good to have some excitement.

How are the oem sliders holding up?

OEM steps replaced awhile ago with Slee Slidersteps. They've been doing a good job of protecting the sills with some kisses here and there.

I figured.. I don’t think the oem can take a hit like the that. I’m debating on those sliders as well, but I’m trying to source a LC side rockers. Btw, was the slee slides hard to install?

Slee's aren't too bad to install. @tbisaacs covered it.

I did manage to tweak a Slee slider slightly. I think it might have shifted rather than bent and I might get around to re-aligning it. It's only enough for me to notice, but you can see the leading (right) edge is just higher.

And because this is a picture thread...could not imagine a better vehicle to overland with.

May I ask what’s your hitch sway set up..

Sure.

Not some flexy or tippy shot or a challenging obstacle, but I was pleased with the composition on this one from the same trail.

Well done - what did you seal the roof rack with? I used Permatex #2 gasket maker I believe and it has been good under some torrential downpours. I swapped my LX for LC rack about 4 months ago.
We're in the same boat, because that's what I used also. Given the application and the way the mounting hardware mates to the roof, I think it should be fine, but I have asked for other opinions. I used in on the bolt threads also.

I used high quality silicone. 6 years and so far no leaks (to my knowledge anyway). So long as you get stuff on the threads I think it’ll be fine. Gasket maker might be better as silicone can shrink over time but for me what’s done is done, I don’t want to try and take that rack off.

What's the advantage of an LC rack vs. an LX rack? Purely aesthetics?

Longer rails provide more flexibility. The added length allowed me to use a larger roof box. The factory LX rails mounted it too far back, which interfered with the rear liftgate.

Also the side rails use 3 mounting holes instead of two, so should carry a bit more load.
