You hitting the trails with @Delancy or any of the other guys out that way?

@Delancy has nothing to hit the trails with. Trying for spring, but ain't holding out too much hope, considering the gargantuan task to get the wheeler ready.

@sje1124
Watch the sand beds in the Arkansas or Keystone!

They hunger for Heeps and have been know to swallow them whole. :)

Disney (Grand) is best wheeling close to Tulsa and there's a little something for every kind of rig there.

I may have been removed from the locals' text list, since they know I'm still in mourning, but when I do I'll message with specifics.

Yeah someone told me to go hit a spot in sand springs on the river and I instantly sank and was in about 6"of sand just chugging my way out. Was not a fun trip.

Resist the urge to travel through the mountains, if time is of concern.

4 hours running to Little Rock, the south to Superlift, opposed to 5-6 through the Ozarks, depending on how flexy your suspension is.

Honestly haven't had a chance to test the new set up. I plan to do the k trail this summer with some 4runners.

Ha ha! You can still ride shotgun, spot and take a s*** load of pictures!

So where is this trail through the Ozarks?

The actual trails are all mapped forest service roads and, I've been told, you can go several days on them only crossing the two lane highway a few times.

I was referring to the highway.

Getting to SCC on the quick, take 40 to LR, then south to park.

If you take the scenic route to Mena then east, it adds 2 hours, even though much shorter route.

Yeah, I get you gotta stop and smell the roses, but didn't have time to spare the last two trips to Superlift, since a day tripper.

I'll have to look into it. Right now my truck barely moves until she can get new gears. I'm averaging 200 miles a tank vs 27 mpg in the car. If I can find some of those roads somewhat close I might go ride around them sometime soon.

Disney is well worth the hour drive up 44 (northeast).

It's below a spillway, that was cut to solid limestone and has eroded since.

Almost doesn't feel like the surface of earth, if the sun is right, it's that surreal.

Those pics suck, but all I have on iPhone.

Lots of wooded trails, but it's hard to get out of the rocks to check them out.

Clayton is 2 hours south and there's two private areas there.
One is mild, the other, better be rocking 40s and not care about carnage.

Take trail spares of everything.

Old pics.

You 'member this rig, Mike?

image.webp

Or the crazy bastid driver?

Major carnage every time I've been, yet he pushed that FJC through crap that would amaze you...... granted, it needed major work after.

You'll here Chandler (West Tulsa) discussed, but it's unsanctioned and they occasionally cite folks pulling out.

I only go if the LEOs in the other LXs are going, figuring they offer some veil of protection.

Nasty, rutted mud tracks, but it's close.

You gonna stretch a 70 body on an 80 frame??

Ute a 70 body for the 80 frame.....

Too much involved with lengthening body WB 22" or shortening the 80 frame, since goal is to wheel this year.

Don't y'all have a metal gawd dun thar', summers?

I thought you were building a pig

Was the Sistine Chapel painted in a day?

Rushmore carved in a week?

Mills carve Jackson in month?

It's just like fine art. It takes time and will never be appreciated 'til long after the artiste is pushin' up daisies.

And yes, I remember that crazy ass rig and driver.

I will say that, after Clayton, the FJC can take unimaginable beating.

Where did this happen at??

Highway 75 southbound on ramp at 96th (Jenks/Main St.).

I will also say, from first hand experience, the 80 can maintain a relatively secure cab in a high(er) speed roll, take a beating, too.

It's what my kids will be driving, for sure.
