I use AMSOIL in engine, diffs, and t-case. in my 4R and LC. I use either AMSOIL or TRD oil filters. I've done all oil changes* myself, but otherwise had the dealership handle the scheduled servicing on my LC. At 10K service, I spoke with the the lead mechanic (who drives an LX himself) about AMSOIL vs Toyota lubricants for the above drivetrain components and his opinion was to go with AMSOIL.

*1,500, 5K, & 10K mi. AMSOIL states it's oil is good for 25K and its oil filters are good for 15K change intervals, but I think it's cheap insurance to change it more frequently. I bought the 4R with 26K on the clock and have religiously changed oil every 7,500 mi (it's only at 110K now). I will likely begin extending LC to that same interval as well. I have done 4R t-case and diffs every 20K and will do the same moving forward on the LC.

From the Amsoil web site (AMSOIL Online Product Application Guide):

Differential, Rear......GL-5
All TEMPS......75W-85 [2]
SEVERE GEAR 75W-90 Synthetic EP Lubricant (SVGQT)
Differential, Front......GL-5
All TEMPS......75W-85 [2]
SEVERE GEAR 75W-90 Synthetic EP Lubricant (SVGQT)
Transfer Case,......GLS [3]
No AMSOIL Product Recommendation

So, I assume you used the 75W-90 Synthetic EP for the diffs, but since Amsoil has no recommended product for the t-case, what did you use?

I had questioned whether to go with Toyota's own for the t-case. The aforementioned mechanic told me it would not effect warranty and I should use AMSOIL.

I don't think you can really go wrong using any high quality synthetic oil, heavy duty filters, reasonable change intervals, and quality fuel.

That said, here's a link to an AMSOIL dealer's post of a third party comparison:

Finally I found out why the Nissan Patrol was so ugly and badly designed. I don't know how nissan even missed this, check out the designer.

@beno , looks like you've been doing a bit of housecleaning lately!

Just trying to organize it all a bit better and make things less cluttered.

The black hand "asked" me to do so.

I enjoyed clicking through the links you posted, been. Thank you.

Since the weather is starting to cool down here something other than the cruiser is going to get taken out more often :steer:

Next outing I'll take her through some proper twisties

Wow. That is a pretty killer setup and decent price for a one-year old Cruiser. Mod costs listed are right on the money too. Wow...

These are the EXACT mods I plan for my 200...except I'd add drawers in back. Just wish I had $22,000 handy... :)
