The early clutch tube is NOT the same as the early 9mm brake line fittings. the clutch tube/fittings are acutally quite a bit bigger than even the 10mm later brake fittings.

As for the real early turn signals with the red lense in the back, I think they dissappeared in 62 sometime. 64/65 should have the style still availble. IIRC Steve Kopito of Owens Export sells the clear lenses to Marv and last I checked his site, he still had them.

Both my bone stock 63 FJ40 and my brother's bone stock 64 FJ40 have the same style red front turn signal dual lens housings, so I know that they came that way up until 1964. I contact Steve at Owens Export about reproducing the red lens, but haven't followed through as I don't have a spare to loan him.

I haven't measured the clutch tube fitting, so you may very well be correct.

I purchased Morgan Fletcher's 63 FJ40 last year. Here's a picture of the red dual lens front signal housing, from Morgan's website. You can't see the front lens because it was removed, so if you really want me to take a picture, I'll do so this weekend.

There is a very good chance both my 63 FJ40, and my brother's 64 FJ40, were actually produced in 1962, and sold and titled as 63 and 64 FJ40s respectively. The VIN starts with a "2" and I've always head that this means it was produced in 1962. I also have a 1962 FJ40, that was made in 1962. It's hard to imagine that these trucks sat that long at the dealership, but I guess it's entirely possible.

I also have a color 1964 Road test brochure that shows these red lens. You've probably got the same brochure in your stash, as they're commonly sold on e-bay.

I have a good parts guy now, but he is a bit of a cruiser guy. Went to one toyota parts shop and they asked for my VIN number. I gave it to them and they said it isn't right. Offered to show it to them, but they wouldn't even take the energy, just blew me off.

Well, I called Champion Toyota here in houston today trying to buy OEM front fenders for my '78. Told me they weren't available any longer, and to go to someone like $or. I've already got a set of the CCOT, but thought I'd use OEM if available. Guess it's going to be CCOT.......

I got the same VIN # deal from one guy in Dallas once...but instead of just telling me that it was wrong, he insisted that it was "imported from another country". I explained that they were all "imported" from Japan. He looked at me kind of funny for a second and then told me "yeah, but it was not ment to come to the US. It was intended for sale in some other country because every care ever sold since the invention of the VIN has been 16 digits." I promptly took my business elseware.

early fuel filter, it had a replaceible element which is $5, but you can get the WHOLE assembley for just $6-7!

then the OEM starting handle, $20

of course the OEM Jerry can not a deal by any meens but cool

should also mention you can get repoductions of owners manuals for $8. Microfish for $8.

also picked up the correct clutch hose for $15.

and yeah I would like a set of corse spline Aisins

I recently bought an early fuel filter for my FJ55 from $OR and expected to receive only the paper filter element but instead got exactly what you pictured above. My piggie currently has the same style fuel filter as pictured above but instead has a clear glass float/bowl rather than a metal float/bowl pictured above. Kinda neat surprise. It is now my spare. I like being able to see inside my fuel filter so the clear glass is cool. On my newer piggie, I am currently running a clear plastic NAPA inline fuel filter while I diagnose my fuel problems-have been swapping them out regularly lately.

yeah my 65 fj40 has the glass style, the new ones must be metal

same with the 45LV, running cheapy filters till all the gunk in gone, then I have a new mount and the new OEM filter to put on.
