Cool, glad I'm in early so that I don't need to pick out differences.......

1960 FJ25:

Stamped in ink on rear - sometime 1959 - I don't remember.
White (silver) face with black lettering.
Idiot lights for charge and oil.
Frame is not recessed on the bottom for column shift.
Frame was painted body color.

those 25 series units are really sweet.

Here's another US version, a 1980 I believe; though similar to the '78 pictured above, this one goes to 80 mph/140 kph instead of 100mph/160 kph.

since words are used instead of symbols, it would appear that LostMarble's theory is beginning to crumble.

This is the one I'm putting on my truck.

Here we go, Feb. 1980 Ca. spec. 40. 55 is in a small square. They also stopped counting past 80 mph.

That's because once you pass 88 MPH you travel in time :p

Oh, wait, thats only in a DeLorean equipped with a flux capacitor

I guess they just figured that if the speedo goes to 100MPH, then some crazy jackass will try to peg it in a 40.......prolly not a good idea.:steer:

Still Another

After all this time - I find this thread and I have one that is still different.

1962 FJ40

Silver with Black Lettering,
Steering column notch
Goes to 100 MPH
Idiot lights for Oil and Charge

1962Cruiser

But now it doesn't matter because of the link below!

has anyone else noticed that the computations from Kph to Mph seem to vary per gauge?

Why do the Japanese always have to break the laws of physics?!:zilla:

I much prefer the 1981-onwards "arrow" turn-signal lights (compared to the triangles) .. as demonstrated with this BJ42 cluster:

InstruClusterBJ42b.jpg

(Prior to 1981 they were of course represented by triangles rather than proper arrows - as stated earlier in this thread.)

But can someone confirm what is missing on the rear of mine (this BJ42 cluster) compared to the cluster Trollhole/Marshall shows in post #12 where the arrowed holes are filled:

BJ42Missing.jpg

Perhaps what's missing on mine is "some form of warning light/buzzer for excessive speed"?
