Odometer Not Working

Kinda late to the game here but thought I'd throw in what I did. My speedo went out so I bought just the sub assembly not the whole cluster. Sub assembly is just the Speedometer/odometer. Not hard to replace once you get the cluster out. I easily changed the milage with a small screwdriver to turn the gears, all you are doing is skipping a tooth at a time for each digit until you get to what you want. When you put it back together just make sure you put the speedo indicator needle exactly at the zero post and push lightly (it just pulls off pushes on, no alignment flat or setscrew/clip) otherwise your speed will be off. It'll also make you realize how gentle you should be when you push the trip reset because like these guys are saying, it's not a stout design. You'll just need a small jewelers type screwdriver to disassemble.

That's for my 93 (I think they are all the same though). I can't remember if I paid $160 or $190 and I think I got it on Amazon

Thanks for this post. My '93 did the same. Reset the trip meter and now no trip or odometer. Speedo is fine. Anyone have a good link for a thread on disassembling/replacing that stuff?

It's pretty simple once you get the cluster out and the plastic cover off. I think I found some sort of guidance here on Mud when I did it, that's how I found the p/n. It's just delicate and the screws holding it to the face are tiny. Also a good time to go through the bulbs and maybe a Raventai temp gauge mod.

Yeah I need to research more. I'm holding off for a bit. Until I get my diesel swap nearly done. They talk of tapping power from the "d' light" for cruise control. Not sure if it's the d-light in dash or shifter. Ha!
