Wow. I am so sorry about your wife. I hope she feels better. Luckily I am on loop E at E001.

I should be there on Friday about 4 pm. Taking the 10:30 ferry out of Cedar Island to Ocracoke. Then the Ocracoke to Hatteras ferry.

Kurt is getting to the campground on Thursday, so if there is anyone that wants to get there a day early, you won't be camping alone.

Ideally, I'll be leaving Raleigh around 9am or earlier. I should be there around 1:00 or 1:30pm.

If people can bring 20lb propane tanks, that would be great. A few of us are bringing gas firepits and they burn through fuel. I suspect with this many people, we'll need at least 2 going for heat. It will help spread the cost of heat if everyone can contribute. Frisco Gun & Rod does tank exchange, so it's no big deal if your tank is low on arrival.

I will likely be leaving later in the day - I have a lot to wrap up this week before heading out, I can bring a spare propane tank as well.

Three of us are brining Ignik FireCans. They are small and put out some heat if you're right on top of them. Does anyone have anything much bigger? Might be more efficient to use a larger propane pit if there is one available in the group.

Thanks to everyone that came out and for making it a great weekend. Let’s do it again next year.

Looks like an awesome trip I gotta make it next year! What's the story with the shark?
I think we saw them catch 5 in total in the 4 or 5 hours we were standing out there. In all the time and years I've spent out there, I have never seen that many sharks get caught in one spot in such a short period of time. I think they were Atlantic sharpnose sharks. From what I've read, seem like they aren't much of a threat to swimmers or surfers.

We usually go to Buxton in the spring and fall for a week at a time. We usually start at 6am and take a dinner break and go back out at 9 till past midnight every day. There is usually one day where we only catch sharks and rays. Before kids we would pack up but with kids we will catch sharks until we are tired of it. Kids like catching them and playing with the smaller ones. Between 8 of us we have cought 20 or more in a 3 hour window. size range has been 1' to 12'.
