Did the Slee bumper not accomodate the mud flaps?

Funny you mentioned that Mac..There was no holes or provisions for any mudflaps, but I am already getting little chips in the angled area underneath the sides of the bumper...I am looking at a few options to put something back there to keep the rocks off my new bumper...and the car behind me !! :)

Stay tuned.....

That looks really sharp Sin! The black wheels finish it of nicely
Come out to Cali and wheel with us!

BTW..I only measured an approx 2/3" drop after installing the bumper...It might seem like a lot to some, but I was expecting MUCH more..I guess the 866`s aren`t that bad after all !!

Sounds good to me First !!

I am looking for some new trails, AND great company !! :)

I still want to run Rubi....but these guys in here have me kinda scared now !!

Yeah I know if you really want to do Rubicon, there are many good Cruiserheads that will help you make it happen.

Lots of other good stuff too tho, the whole Death Valley area is really beautiful.

Anyway, nice buildup!

Well...Its finally done !!

I finished the installation of my Slee rear bumper today, and here is what I found...

The swing-arm assy was fairly easy to put the final touches on (install the bearings and seal, measure my tire/rim for the carrier, assemble the latch, wire up the License plate lamp..etc..)

Only two things were a bit challanging for me (not bad cosidering I am an idiot when it comes to mechanical repair !!)

#1 was the damn top bearing cap that finishes off the swing-arm pivot...

I SWEAR that the black cap was bigger than the opening it was supposed to tap into !! I screwed with that cap for a half an hour, finally I had to pinch it in a vise and roll the outer lip inward to get it to fit, and even then, I put a small dent in it (I will be calling ya` for another one Christo )...

Ditto. Experienced the same thing. Dented the sharse out of mine...works fine just looks like sharse.

#2 was that there was no mention in the instructions (unless I didnt see them) of the size drill bit needed to install the wire clamps for the License lamp wire...I drilled a slightly larger hole than I shoud have, so I had to use larger screws.

Oh. and maybe there should be a little better description of where to tap into the harness for the lamp..(It was no big deal for me, I just used the old trailer harness wiring on the vehicle side that I disconnected when I ditched my hitch)

I didn't have the harness...and still have not taken time to find a good wire to splice into.

I painted the latch and hook, and checked everything over...It looks GREAT !!

Here`s a couple of pics of the finished product !!

Looks great!

Hey supress...you should have two grey 6-pin plugs hanging under the rear (1 on the LH side 1 on the RH) ...

This is what the (factory hitch wiring) plugs into...I just peeled back the RH side shielding an used the lower left and upper right wire as power/ground

Unless the 99`s didnt have it as a plug-and play hitch...(?)

Now that you mention it I think I remember seeing those plugs under there...but didn't know what they were for. What color were the wires you tapped into do you remember?

Thanks for the heads up on this! Now I can get the darn light lit

Hey SC...the NoCal guys are talking about doing a DV run next month. Don't know the dates but depending on work schedule I would like to make it...how about you?

As far as the wires go...it seems to me like the power was green, and the ground was black w/ silver...but as you look AT the plug, with the release on top..it was (power) bottom left...(ground) top right...I hope that helps (?)

OH..and as far as Death Valley goes....Unless my work schedule conflicts.. Consider me in !! :D

I have been wanting to spend some "quality" time in D.V. for years now...depending on when the trip is planned, I might take a week or two off just to explore the monument as much as possible

Let me know !!

Sincity,

I wanted one before, but now I really, really want one. Thanks for the pictures, you've got a great looking truck. I like the all black stealth look.

33" tires next and then the bumper!

The Death Valley Trip is March 15 - 19 but I think there is already a waiting list. You should contact cruiserdrew since he is the one that have been organizing this trip the last 3 years.

You should do the Rubicon, it is such a fantastic trail and it is so beautiful. Don't let this guys talk you in or out of it. It'll be worth it. We can help you get through it, its not that big of a deal.

We will be doing our 100 series trip in DV in the Fall too:D

Nice pics Sincity,

I have a cheap 2 wheel carrier to install, will put pics up when done, down the track a bit, lots of other things to do first.

awesome pics...

about that cap, you're supposed to use a dead blow mallet to install it. i assume you used a regular steel hammer of some sort to dent it?

i used the slee hinge on my bumper build along w/ the same latch, but in stainless...

it's a badass bumper and looks at home on the 100.

Man, those pics have gotten my day started off right!!! I've been waiting to see the black bumper and I LOVE it!!!

Go get some of Christo's sliders and then there won't be any more armor on the market for you to buy. :D

You're def gonna need some rear flaps though. These aggressive tires like my swampers don't throw stones up as often as A/T's but when they do grab one that fit's between the lugs just right its a damn boulder!

BS...I had 'em all buffed out right before this pic was snapped. Then hunting season started....let's just say I need to get it buffed out again (after the season ends next week)....and detailed...just in time for the DV run

Oh ya! :D

Well I'm pissed off. I've been told I can't buff mine another time or I'm gonna see some shine come off. I'm bummed and have though of getting some custom FastSigns made to fit the sides.

No flaps = No tailgaters :grinpimp:
