I’m in the preliminary stages of planning a trip up to Northern BC… and I’m meaning north of PG to the Yukon. I’ve got a project that will involve exploring and photographing the area. Ideally capturing images and footage of nature and wildlife. Any suggestions on the best places, times, and area to explore?

We’ll be taking a mix of still photography, video, and drone footage. The ultimate goal will be to capture the beauty of the area & wildlife. Don’t worry, if you tell me about your favourite places, I’m not going to post directions on how to get there… but I’m planning take pictures and would be happy to share them with you.

I’ve reached out to PG45er, but would love to connect with other members and folks up in the area.

I've worked up there a bit and 2 places stand out. Telkwa pass would be a sweet outing if your rig is up for it. You could go through telkwa from Smithers to Terrace. No idea current conditions, I heard maybe not fully possible a few years ago.

Telegraph Creek out of Dease Lake is also worth checking out. The road out there is pretty neat. Maintained gravel.

A bit further, but I've always wanted to check out the Chilkat Valley out of Haines. I read it's the highest concentration of bald eagles in North America. I think it occurs during the salmon run in Nov.

Telkwa Pass sounds interesting but is likely quite a bit south of where I’ll be working. As for rig being up to it, it’ll depend a lot on which rig I take up. My 40 does extremely well on the highway for a 40, but still only has a 90” wheelbase and very limited cabin space.

Telegraph creek is more where I’ll be and gravel roads give me more choice of vehicles. My bigger truck would the more logical option for that area. It has so much more to offer remote exploring… just no 4WD.

Chilkat Valley in November sounds like a must see destination.
:grinpimp:

Walls, insulation, solar, fridge, 120v ac, storage space, and sleeping inside all push the Ambo up the list of vehicle options.

I’m rebuilding my FJ40 and live in the Yukon.
I know a couple other folks up here with Cruisers. I also work out of Territory often, so hit or miss, but am still around majority of the year.

Would be more than happy to link up with you when you’re around Whitehorse area!
