WOW! That JDG is bright!!!

Earl Scheib silver, bought it that way. It's kinda grown on me. I think I'm going to try to get close in a Toyota color when I go to repaint it:

I'm thinking something like Galactic Grey Mica

trust me...earl scheib or not, it's better than what it used to be...here's when kim was getting it ready for paint...the tailgate panel shows what color it used to be;)

Put in many hours yesterday to get everything back together..

Wheels weigh about 2 ton each..

Not factory
I had used a WWII olive drab spray can an it was taking too long so I took it to ACE and they color matched. Not 100% color matched but I like it and it was cheaper than using spray cans.

Hi all,

I tried to match the faded blue factory color without success. I have been using spray cans of "GM Engine Block Blue" to paint the rig.

Regards,

Alan

I drove mine like this so long, to me, it wasn't striped anymore. It was Zebra colored.

This thread asked for the 'ugly' - this is as bad as it gets. First of all, it was nifty Mustard truck, then it had a Maaco-grade nasty silver paint job inside and out, and the roof. It then sat outside for many years to fade and rust.

I had to sand/strip/disassemble almost the entire truck to get it back to Mustard. Yeah - I'm an OEM color kind of guy. Banish silver FJ40s from the planet, I say.

Ok, that's bad. But you'd be hard-pressed to beat the Mardi gras paint job a few posts above. All that rig is missing is white raised letters on the tires to complete the tacky ensemble.

Hey! I resemble that remark! :hillbilly:

I agree. We should never banish Cruisers. We should merely reeducate their owners, show them the error of their ways and help them choose a better colour. If the owners refuse to be reeducated, then we banish them. :-)
