They are still working on that issue--specifically as it relates to cold temperatures. I'm waiting until they are done before receiving my fronts.

So basically they shipped me the same as I had before, they told me before sending the replacement that they fixed it. Darn!

I just know they are specifically addressing the cold temps now, and that they're waiting to ship my fronts until after it's resolved.

It's summer in Australia... Maybe that has something to do with discovering the cold-specific issue later... I don't know.

I wish they would have told me that, i would have waited, I talked to them late in December and that's when they told me they would replace my 6 month old struts.

Gotta love having a $80K LC with high tech suspension that sounds like a 20 year old Ford explorer with clunks and creaks and groans.

I suspect the cold-specific issue was a revelation after yours were sent... I didn't start talking to them until January.

I guess I'll wait a bit to see if the temperature goes up if it stops, then I'll contact ARB again, hate to pull that string again.

I don't blame you for being frustrated. :bang:

Well, had the new struts installed last week, and guess what the Clunk is still there, very bummed.
When I picked up the LC no Clunk but the next day I have the clunk back on both side just like before and it's been there since.

The only difference is that the temperature dropped the day after I pickup the truck.

Don't know what to do next, throw them and get back to stock, keep them for a while and switch to Kings or Icon's. or wait for warmer temperature to decide?

Any advices?
Been there, done that, so I feel your pain. Doubt the clunk will go away.

Replaced mine with Nitrocharger sport and have been happy. Probably would do Icons, given the reviews on here, if I really wanted the high performance stuff.

How is the comfort with the Nitrocharger, I am more interested in comfort first.

Since the individual comfort is mostly about valving and springs (from what little I understand), I should preface that I am running these on a built-up rig (TJM bumper, extra battery, loaded drawers, sliders, roof rack) and running heavy OME springs front and back. I still have my BP-51s on the rear (haven't had a chance to replace them with the Nitrochargers yet), but even on their lightest compression setting, they still feel too firm. The front end, with the Nitrochargers, feels perfect.

Because the valving on the Nitrochargers feels so good for my weight/springs, I wonder if it would have felt too stiff for a lighter vehicle. I know others have talked about them being firm, but they feel softer than the Bilsteins (5100s) that I was running when my rig was otherwise completely stock.

I hope this helps.

I'm thinking that firmness is likely more a result of the heavy springs rather than the BP settings.

I have a 2016 GX 460 and installed the BP51 by Main Line Overland.
From the start i had two shocks leaking, replaced by Overland. This getting pretty costly when ARB covers the shocks and not the labor.
I have no bumper or any other mod and the shop adjust the preload to 5 mm as per the manual.
If I increase the compression and rebound to the max i get the noise to the minimum but not when is below 32 and it brakes your spine.
As of now the compression is at 3 and rebound at 5. Last week we had over 60 degree and was driving ok in the N/E but today is 0 degree in the Catskills and it drives like an old second World War Jeep.
This is unacceptable from a $3000 suspension. I was trying to be patient and I hope that ARB is working on a fix because this is not the REP they want in a market like US. Now i had it.
Whatever the problem is ?? is cold related. At list in my case. when is warm the clunk is going away gradually
I will make another call to ARB Monday and try to see if Brian have a another solution. If not they can take it back and i will look into Fox or Icon.

Yes. It is confirmed by ARB to be cold related. They are still working on it as of last week when I heard from them.

Is this limited to a select set or something? I'm trying to figure out why if this is such a big issue people are still installing these today. I was talking with an installer about suspension replacement on my 2016, he brought up BP-51, I remembered this thread and immediately said no thanks. But I see people still installing them on the update threads like every day? Maybe they don't know about the issue? Or it's a limited set?

Someone posted installing them in the last couple days, but in my ridiculous monitoring of mud...there has been a noticeable lull as this gets sorted out. I did wonder about that recent install, and suspect ARB will send them a new set if/when they resolve it.

It's frustrating because they do perform well...but I hate wondering what will happen when I drive into bitter cold conditions. If it's not sorted out by Summer, I'll consider a change, but hopefully that won't be necessary. As a guy seriously considering moving to Colorado...cold weather needs to be considered.

When I installed them I had no idea that they have this problem. I based my decision on ARB reputation and from line reviews I was wrong.
I was very surprised when the guy from ARB told me that one shock out of 100 are leaking gas. Can you imagine Toyota having to replace one shock on every 25 cars ? I hope the lockers will hold better.
I can't fault the few journalists been treated right and posting great reviews. I am pretty sure they work great in the heat. So far in cold weather I avoid taking friends or family in the car. That embarrassing.

That is the worst, sorry man.

Thank you.
Good news At list how I see it.
Overland just contacted me and ARB told him that they have the new shocks that they will test in the next week in COLD climate. If test goes well they will replace the entire kit at no cost to me at all. That's what I call service. Thank you Pete.
ARB stated that the problem is consistent with KDSS sway bar equipped trucks. Maybe they should match Toyota oil ? Given that they act against each other ?? (Just a theory).
I hope is just a oil thickness issue and will have this page turned.
One thing I can say is that , they are taking this seriously At list it looks like.

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it... this issue has probably been going on for well over a year now. Plus... from what I hear Fox had some quality issues when they tried developing the same type of shock, and therefore doesn't offer an IBP shock outside of their race solutions. At least this is what I was led to believe...
