Hey All,

My 90 P/U quit running as I was pulling away from home. It was really cold. that morning, so I let it warm up for a while. I put it in first and it died when I started moving. It had been having problems starting on the first crank, which may be related.

There is no spark. The coil was corroded and tested out of limits, so I replaced it. No effect. Then I tried to test for error codes, but the check engine light doesn't even come on. It's a high mileage truck and I may not have noticed the light burning out, or it could a symptom.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

check the basics

Lets start on the basic stuff we need, check fuel pressure, timing and ignition.make sure you have fuel going to injectors and actually opening then check if your distributor is spinning (broken timing belt) or it could have jump a few cogs and last check your coil for excessive resistance and power and ground supply to you coil.check all your fuses and harness from your battery.hope this helps.:)

I found a bad AM2 fuse. Should've been wearing the glasses to see that it was fried. The old bad coil was reading almost no resistance across the positive/coil terminals and that may have caused a short. Hopefully that will be the fix when I get home.

I was unaware of the importance of the AM1 and AM2 fuses and will check them from now on.
