Hi everyone. First I want to sat thanks for all the excellent info that is posted here I was able to adjust my front wheel bearings without a manual Sure had a hard time finding a 54mm socket BUT Gregg distributing out of Nanaimo had one in stock. $32. Part no 04-2654. Now I need to know if the gas brake pads of a petrol cruiser will work on my hdj-81 with a 1hd-t turbo diesel. Toyota doesn't have a separate listing for them. Please help. Thanks again everyone.

I don't own an 81, but I'm pretty sure there are different sized brakes between the 90-92, and 93+ models. The early ones are smaller, and some people upgrade to the later ones. I'm also pretty sure the brakes are the same between the 80's and 81's, but again, can't confirm that. If no one here knows, do a search in the 80 series forum, and you'll find lots of threads on brakes. Search is your friend. Check the part # thread at the top of the diesel 24v section, I think there's some info in there.
Failing that, I have seen several posts in that section about the swap...
But if you're just out to replace what you have, I believe it's year specific, after x year (93?) they switched to bigger brakes, so if yours was say a 91, then I'd suspect that the same year of gasser brakes would work for you. Ditto for after the change, tho you'd want to verify the actual date of the change, 93 was a guess.

Ya I am local ladysmith actually. Upgrade to what? The 93 and newer brakes. Oh ya will everyone please bear with my as I have never been on a forum before. Remember patience is a virtue or so I've been told thanks for the replies everyone.

I'm new to ladysmith. Where is Cassidy? What do you drive I'll watch out for you. My truck is dark green with 34s and a safari snorkel. It's easy to see me I'm the guy with all the fog in his windows. I just bitch fixed the blower. Bypassed all the fan speeds with a switch. It hurt me to do it but I have to work and can't with no heat .
