Well, I'm a new, slightly used '79 FJ40 owner. Have yet to pick it up, it's up in Charlotte, just a quick drive up the highway from Columbia, so it'll be real soon. I've just been lurking for awhile trying to absorb what I could. This site is great, but I know another good resource for any owner have is books specific to the vehicle. Apart from Haynes, Chiltons, and FSM, are there any good recommendations y'all have for me? Also, where is a good source to find an FSM?

Glad to be a part of the community, I'll put up some pics when I get some, I'm really excited to be an owner now, as I've wanted one for years.

Hey thanks, definitely appreciate the reply. I've yet to learn the fine art of the search button, but no worries, it'll come with time.

Now that you have a cruiser, you will progress from slightly used  to excessively, but it's in a good way!! WELCOME

Congratulations on your purchase! We've got a few Cruiserheads here in Columbia and we've recently started up a club. I'm sure we could get a couple of extra hands to get yours running once it arrives in town.

No, I wish it was though, that pic is there to illustrate what can be done if I buy a of sheet 16 gauge steel to replace the rear floor instead of buying something stamped like from the factory.

Get a Gregory's manual to go with the FSM. I like it better than Haynes.

Hey, didn't say I would be doing it, it was just the seller's way of illustrating what could be done. Right now I'm gonna work on the basic roadworthiness before I get to the big cosmetic stuff.

Well I pick it up on Saturday morning, unfortunately I have to work 3-11 that day, so still won't be able to get started yet. Oh well, good things come to those who wait. Will post better pics when I get the chance.

Welcome to the addiction. I hope your significant other is understanding. You'll spend one hell of a lot of time working on the rig. I love mine. It is the only hobby that I have. Very rewarding to fix it up and wheel the hell out of it!
