I am not sure if I did the right thing but am now the proud? owner of a 1990 Japanese RHD, HDJ81 with a 4.2L diesel (the 1HDT for those that know about such things). It certainly stands out in a crowd. I had no trouble this winter with snow when others were residing in the ditch. Pix of the rig attached. I hope to learn a lot from reading the posts in this forum. thanks to all those who volunteer their time to make this place what it is. Regards.

:flipoff2: Welcome!

Nice rig! We didnt get that body style in 1990 here in the states. I noticed you dont have sliding rear windows, do you have the third row seats? How about lockers? I'd like to be the first to request more pics!

No, I dont have third row seats but there are two lockers. It came with a bed that I have dismantled. The funny things on the front bumper that Skillet identified are a block heater for the oil, one for the coolant and two battery blankets for the two 12 volt batteries. We do get some cold weather here, hit minus 28C this winter. At that temperature there isnt much to choose between Centigrade and Fahrenheit. Its just dammed cold.

The beast arrived here last April with 89,500 km! on the clock. You figure how anyone could have such a vehicle and in 16 years accumulate less than 60,000 miles. Had the original tires on it, which had lots of tread left but were cracked around the rim so they would not pass Ontario safety. They are now on my 1990 Cherokee that I use around the farm. Interior was pristine. Has a fridge which can make ice cubes. Centre differential lock, all time four wheel drive. One Birfield joint was leaking but my son has put all new seals in both joints. Is no speed demon, I cruise at about 60-65 mph at 2500 rpm. The diesel is turbocharged.

Is this factory or an aftermarket add on? I seem to recall a discussion about a factory fridge option availible overseas.

Welcome :flipoff2:

Japan is a small country.... ;)

Nice to see a fellow Ontarian.
When I was shopping last year for my LC, a RHD diesel was what a yearned for, but concerns of driving on the wrong side from my wife pushed us to get one of the few U.S. imported 95 80's that you rarely see here.
I'm very envious.
I love my 95 but the sound of diesel really gets me going.
