do you know the location of the jasper repeater you listed? i know that we lost one local repeater last spring when the big storm came throught. it was on south pittsburg mnt and has not been replaced.

"a bit high"...

Will the first crossing coming in from Jasper be a problem if we didn't have any problems last year? (I'm assuming it's deepest there, right?)

we couldnt get in from jasper last year. its no where near that high now and should have peaked today (maybe tomorrow) if it doesnt rain anymore you should be ok. ( but i have been wrong about this very topic before:p) if i get a chance ill take a trip out tomorrow and check

The repeater guide does not show the location beyond the reference to the city. I will see if I can do a lookup by call sign on the net and see what information I can find.

the guide says the sponser is SEQUACHEE and I don't know if that's part of a name or what... I'll see what I can find.

EDIT>>>

It may be old data or damaged as you say...

The call sign is reigstered to an individual located in Jasper, TN.... but so far I dont see a reference to the actual antenna location. Looking at teh above mentioend link (MAP) there looks to be a number of repeaters in the area...of course their antennas are sitting up on tall masts while we will be at ground level. So output range would be one thing...being able to "hit" the repeater would be another. All of this is new to me so bear that in mind, also I know there is a lot of posting going on related to ham but while we have some people I would like to test and see what works or how well it works...

Hey Andy ill be there Friday morning (6th) . I'll leave Knoxville around 8:00 eastern . That way it will give me a little +/- time to get there.

I've been back and forth on pulling the trailer with wood. I'm one of those guys that likes a Damn good fire and dry wood. Lol. I guess you can say I'm a FIREBUG! The m416 doesn't have a pintle on it anymore but I think I can pull it on the trail and not have any trouble. I've never been there before so feedback on pulling it to the campsite would be great.

If you want to meet up in Cullman and go from there your welcome to.... I generally leave Cullman, then through blount county to Guntersville, then to Scottsboro, then to Bridgeport and over to Jasper.

Often I'll stop near Scottsboro and have breakfast at Jacks and then over to the Wal-Mart for supplies iif needed.

I would think the trailer will be a big PITA. If you want to bring some wood we could split it up and carry it in. you are welcome to leave the trailer in my shop. Finding wood hasnt been much of a problem but a few good dry logs to get things started would be nice.
