Figure I’d introduce myself here as this is where I’ll be spending the most time. I recently bought my wife a 1991 Land Cruiser for light wheeling and camping. It’s mainly a daily driver to and from work about 15 minutes. I’m kinda new to this vehicle so I have a lot to learn. My first car was a 1980 celica so I have been a Toyota owner previously. Mainly I’ve been a Subaru SVX person for the last 30 years. The Cruiser has 240k and needs lots of tlc. If you know anything about it please let me know. It was purchased in the Denver area recently. So far it needs the hubs rebuilt, brake work and an oil leak. I’m sure there is a lot more but for now those are the major issues.

Welcome to the group! It looks like your photo has received a bit of AI enhancement—very cool. You’re lucky to have such an awesome wife who wants an 80 Series as her daily driver!

While I don't have details on your particular 80 Series, I strongly recommend exploring the forum for information specific to 80 series. next ensure that all routine and preventative maintenance has been addressed. Pay special attention to items like heater hoses, vacuum hoses, and other common trouble spots that can affect reliability. You have the 3F motor, so if it has been taken care of and maintained, you should have a bulletproof rig to enjoy!

Good luck with your Land Cruiser, and again, welcome to the club!

We have two 80-series cruisers in our family. Hell would need to freeze over before my wife would even contemplate daily driving either of them. You are a lucky guy :flipoff2:

Same. My mom on the other hand was the one who started it all for our family and is responsible for the purchase of 8 land cruisers.

My wife had to drive the 80 to work a couple weeks ago. She called me all pissed off that the drivers seat wouldn't adjust for her short legs. I had to hear her bitch the whole time she was driving. Luckily it's only about 4 miles.

Welcome and congrats. My wife drove mine a couple of days last week when her car was having a brake job, and when she got it back she was SO thankful🤣. Said it felt smooth as silk after driving my boat that you had to work to steer and stop…enjoy. These guys here are a wealth of knowledge.
