Hi all, I picked up my first FJ40 a couple of months ago and I'm just getting around to posting. So far I pulled out all kinds of extraneous wiring and got it back to a keyed start off the column! got new wheels and tires!! and I know it should have been the first thing I did, but it was the third, I flipped the bezel over! 😊 I appreciate all the knowledge on here, I've been lurking a long time.

Looks like a great start. I always dig the expo racks

What drive train?

Plans?
yeah it came with the rack and the tent, it has the oddest engine that I never knew about, a small block Chevrolet 267, which I'm not sure why anyone would bother since it has similar torque and horsepower ratings to the 2f, I can see a couple hundred pound weight savings but doesn't idle as low as the 2f , it has the original 4 speed and 16 spline transfer case. I did a deep dive on wheels and tires and ended up with the FJ Company wheels that are 16x6 and Toyo at3's that are 235/85r16 so 31.7" diameter and a 9.3" section width, each wheel weighs 65 lbs. total, the old one's weighed 80 lbs. each, I don't know how much unsprung weight matters on a fj40 but it is much quieter going down the road and the Saginaw steering box stopped squealing!

Plans as of know are to just get continue cleaning up wiring and probably rust repair and paint starting with the doors? I was looking at overdrives and split t-cases ect.. but I think I really just need to drive it for a while first.

I'm always open to advice if you have some for me!

I think there were some tcase changes mid 75. The rear seats and bumperettes aren't stock.
