So that's it. :bounce2::cheers::bounce2:

Tomorrow while y'all are fightin' the Black Friday crowds at the Wal-Mart to buy toys for the young'uns ...

I'm gonna go fetch my toy. :grinpimp:

:flamingo:

Put about 70 miles on it last night, plan to put more on it today sometime.

Nice and smooth up to 80! Didn't go any faster, but I think it would continue to be smooth even faster.

No bad lights on on the dash! Cruise control works like a champ, trans shifts just like it should, and the brakes feel awesome!

Don't foresee any issues, so Kowboy can finally drive his big ole purdy truck!!

How much are you having to pay her?

How much are you having to pay her?

Hun'erd bucks ... and it was a young boy. :grinpimp:

So Black Friday was a big, BIG day for this White Trash. :bounce2::cheers::bounce2:

Dropped off on 04/28. Picked up on 11/29.

Lookin' back thru this most excellent thread ... I realize Vince must be feelin' like Waylon singin' the Dukes of Hazard theme song:

"I'm a good ol' boy
You know my momma loves me
But she don't understand
They keep a showin' my hands and not my face on TV"

So here's Mr. Vince Dooley ... a very talented young man.

Great job Vince!

So I got ‘er. She’s big … she’s bad …

Drivin’ ‘er back up to Baltimore on I-95 it’s truly amazin’ that after all the modifications she still handles like before. No loss of power, steerin’, brakin’, ride quality, or overall handlin’. Yet she’s substantially stronger and more capable off road. Lookin’ like a most excellent build at this point.

But she’s also ungawdly expensive. The huge pile of money I had stashed away just weren’t enuf. So had to break my “cash-on-the-barrelhead” rule and take on some short-term debt to get ‘er done.

If I had known the final bill right from the get-go … would I’ve proceeded? … No way.

But the project became kinda like walkin’ ‘cross an unknown river when ya can’t swim. The dream I been chasin’ for all these years is on the other side. So I started walkin’. As the far bank got closer and closer, the waist-deep water weren’t no concern. When the water got up to my chest and the bank was still out of reach, concern became very real. When it got chin-deep and I was close … but weren’t there … what do ya do? Ya can’t stop. And turnin’ ‘round is a damned poor option. I know. Cuz that’s what I keep doin’. And ya know where ya get when ya keep turnin’ ‘round?? Fawkin’ nowhere … that’s where ... on your death bed askin’ “What if ? …”.

This dream haunts me and I’ve grown weary of chasin’ it. So I made it across this river. I’m cold, tired, and beat down like a stray dog. But I made it across. I ain’t turnin’ ‘round no more. Only the passage of time will determine my sanity. Will the truck hold up? Will the camper hold up? Will the entire dream just turn into a friggin’ nightmare??

Or will I finally have a unique place for my wanderin’ soul to seek shelter and find peace?

This has been a very stressful month or so. I waited with y’all each and ev’ry day in anticipation of the progress pics. Giddy with excitement as evidence of Vince’s skill was presented. But at the same time, usin’ them pics to try to track the project completion status and guessin’ at time remainin’ … multiplied by the shop rate for labor. It sucked when the pile of money was gone. Sucked bad. But I ain’t turnin’ ‘round. And without a doubt, I consider myself fortunate to have had the rig stumble into the very talented hands of Vince.

And I still gotta good job so the short-term debt will be covered soon enuf. The camper’s paid for and waitin’ to be fetched.

To be all you can be … you gotta dream of bein’ more. And By Gawd … I’m fixin’ to go catch me my dream.

Cheers and a hearty Thank You to Lance and his fine crew at Iron Pig.

I don't care what the mexican thinks, he's just jealous!

Bite me Fireman!:hillbilly:

Here in the U.S., when ya actu'ly legally own a vehicle and have it properly registered, licensed, and insured ... ya ain't gotta steal dif'rent tags all the time. Mes'kins just don't get it. :flipoff2: :grinpimp::flipoff2:

But we luv 'im anyways.

You got it sir! ...you've been hangin' out with some of them Mexicans haven't yaw????
I am one of those Mexicans that believe in doing the right thing and obey the law

The crazy thang is how lil' I have driven 'er.

From the mountains of North Carolina to Florida when I bought 'er. One round trip from Florida to Elwood to get 'er tagged and get my s*** outta The 3X's when it sold. Then she was parked in a garage for 'bout 8 months. Then shuttled to Maryland and then to IPOR in Virginia where she's been for over 7 months. Very lil' drivin' in a year and a half. :meh:

But that's fixin' to change when I go fetch 'er on Black Friday. :steer:

:flamingo:

This is what I was talking about..... It has been such a long time that I forgot where the truck has started.

Jealous ???? always. since our Fearless leader always has very impressive projects....

Congratulations Kowboy

hopefully I can see one day this wonder of stupid Duty!

FYI just Black smoked one of them Stupid Duty on My Paloma....

So you have been driving around in your new rig now for a few days. So whatcha think

It is parked in a secure location correct?

Yessir.

Jumped in 'er this afternoon and gave 'er the best off-road test I could ... the streets of Baltimore.

She gobbled up potholes that would swallow a Honda Civic. And Folks just kept starin' at me. Nice that they're finally noticin' my natural good looks. :grinpimp:

Talked to the fine folks at Hallmark out on the plains and they confirmed my lil' camper will be ready for pick up on Tuesday. That's cool s***.

'Bout the only real issue we got is the shifters for the Atlas. The doubler shifter works good. The rear axle shifter goes good into High and is difficult into Low. The front axle shifter is moderate into High and impossible into Low. :meh:

Gotta take the truck back to the shop on Friday mornin' to change the break-in oil in the Atlas and axles anyways and Vince is goin' to make some adjustments.

... or maybe these super-pimpin' new knobs will fix the issues. :grinpimp:

:flamingo:

And if ya look at the pics of the front-end ya see a Warn hawse on the bumper and then a roller fairlead. Ain't got no use for that roller fairlead but the Warn hawse just weren't big enuf to handle the big-ass winch rope thimble.

So we got us a new hawse that'll work.

:flamingo:

Rather than waste the day workin' today ... I spent the day sortin' through my meager belongin's and packin' what made the cut into the truck. Was a really fun day.

'Bout all that's left for tomorrow is to get my bike mounted up on the tire carrier and locked down. Then it's south to Fredericksburg so I can be at the shop first thang Friday mornin'. :steer:

The dream is close ... real close.
