So are they custom, one-offs that you had made or something that Christo will be offering soon?

I had looked into getting some custom springs made a few months back. But the wedding/honeymoon and now the move back to MN has put any Cruiser mods on "hold" for now.

Ok, from the horses mounth (or a@*#&) depending on how you look at it :)

The springs are SOF5FM for the front and SOF5RM for the rear. These are 6" lift spring that we will introduce with a new 6" lift kit that does not use spacers. The old 5" kit will still be OME springs and spacers.

The springs are made for us in Australia. The spring rates are firmer than OME 850/863 and intended for heavy applications with winch/bar/ sc etc up front and bumper tire carrier etc in the rear. We also have a SOF5RH which is a heavy rear spring for trucks with subtanks etc etc.

The whole kit will be announced once the stock arrives. We flew in some limited quantities of the springs for special orders.

You'll have to drop the bump stops a good 5" or so if my calculations are correct.

B, why are you saying that? The spring does not have anything to do with the bumpstops. It is only the shocks. We will soon have front and rear bumpstop drops to make sure that the L shocks are not overcompressed.

With this kit, the issue is not to compress the springs all the way, otherwise they will loose their springrate due to coilbind.

Once you get this tall, the issue of bumpstops are really a matter of making sure the tires fit. It would be great to run longer shocks, but there is currently no bolt in solution available. Also, any more droop, you have to start removing swaybars, extend ABS lines etc etc.

this always happens......3 months after i get "the best" ......the new steez comes out.....so what was the damage on only the springs.....it sounds like if you have the other components from the previous "5 inch kit" you could run those and just lose the spacers......essentially.....like has been said other issues will need to be taken care of....by th way i want some.....hmmm (how can i sell my spacers and J springs :) )

oh...and fat props to christo for the new steez.....thanks again for bringing (soon) new options for the 80! on me man......thanks.

They have a super secret coded part # that I was having a hard time getting out of Christo. They give a 6" lift. :D And they ride beauty on the hwy to boot. Less body roll. :D

I'd say 6 inches

Thanks Dan,

I know Christo is advertising them as 6 inch, I would like to know what they measured out between axle and bumpstop on that particular truck as it is a similar setup to mine.

Fair enuf.... :)

Well I'm standing alone here I guess as that amount of lift is just over the top for what I want.

FWIW I'd love to see a set of front springs that with the ARB Bar, winch, second battery and sliders provide a 3" lift, and do it without shims! Any chance of seeing something like that Christo?

I've also read that our LC springs are interchangeable with some rovers, anybody heard this?

WOW,

Karma strikes again 8)

The problem is not the springs. We can easily do that. The problem is the caster. If you want 3" then the caster bushings are not enough. So you need either arms ($$'s) or you need some Japanese caster bushings, which frankly are scary. They are the same concept as the OME, but they holes are even further off-set, so you end up with no rubber between the inside sleave and the outside one.

Christo,

Do you really think arms are the only answer. In my mind I'd drop the rear mounts of the leading arms by welding a drop plate to the gusset for half the correction and then the Caster bushings up front for the other half. The plates are already available as well as the bushings.

Nope, but the only one that is not a compromise. When we looked at drop brackets, it was going to cost about as much to make a bracket that is strong enough, straight bolt-in and work with our sliders. Now for the DIY'ed there are other options available. Catch is the marketing. So we make 3" springs that take the weight, but we can only sell them to the DIY people. Kinda like shooting yourself in the foot.

:whoops: Uhhhhh, nevvver mind. :-[

So what're you thinking for tire size now? Those 315's look small!

I'm thinkin' 37's on 10 inch wheels.

It really does look nice :D.

I added up the pieces in my head and got a bit spooked :o.

(the wife would KILL me, I wouldn't even have a chance)

It would be a bit tough to sneak that one by her. I think she would pick up on it trying to get in.

Actually not a bad idea. Sean is getting wheel spacers. With this lift we recommend that you also move the wheels out to get a better stance and stability.

Not if you buy her a nice 100 series.
