Picked up those Kumho MT 35x12.5R15 that were on used vic. They were on 15x8 alloys with -27mm offset. With some helpful input from a fellow in NZ who owned the same rim size and tire, I discovered this is the perfect rim size for running 35s an LJ7x or KZJ7x. I probably would have been better off with 33s, but where's the fun in that?
The tires and rims were literally purchased new and never used. Were in storage for the last 4-5 years. I figure I got them for about 1/2 new price or less. My 235/85R16 Duratracs are getting around 50-60%, so new tires were on the menu in the next year or so anyhow. Running these will extend my use of the Duratracs, which I'll keep for camper trailer towing duty and snow. Kumho MT maybe not my first pick, but seem to have generally ok reviews. Beggars can't be choosers, lol.
I had to put in some 1" coil spacers on top of my 2" Dobinson front coils. The rear OME's were already tall enough. Tires clear the radius arms perfectly. I had to 'massage' the inner fender liner at the back of each front wheel well to prevent rubbing at full lock. Also had to remove the front mud flaps. No rubbing now, but will see how it is when wheeling at full flex while turning. May need more lift yet to get the tire to tuck under the fender at full articulation.... Might also have to come up with some fender flares or rubber strip to keep the tires from flinging mud. I'm at about 3" of lift right now; but I think 4" would be more ideal.
They ride really nicely actually. Very comfortable sure footed. Easy cruising on the highway.
