Hey Guys and Gals -

Well, I finally bit the bullet and got some new tires for the truck. I have been debating on going to 315's...and I felt I needed a tire with a little more bite than the BFGs...so, why not kill two birds with one stone.

I will tell you that there is no possible way that I am going to anything bigger than a 315. I can barely get into the sucker now...but, I am blaming that on the crutches.

I did a lot of research and ended up going with the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar (Load Range D). I am really happy with the tires...they took very little weight to balance and ride superbly. I put them on Tuesday and I have only put on about 200 miles since...all on-road...and thus far no complaints.

Well, enough...on to the pictures:

The two rascals that put me in a wheelchair...and now on crutches...

Next on the list installation of the ARB fridge and the ARB air lockers...and a re-gear to 4.88...

Cheers.

OK .. those look great!

do you have wheel spacers on there or not?

Kaos -

No wheel spacers...but, I am running without flares.

looks tuff  I'm debating between those and the KM2's for my next tires.

I noticed that you lost your flares! :)

I am just now going to 315's, so I am hoping to ditch the wheel spacers. I might look a little narrow with flares, but I think i will be ok looking at your set up.

Congrats on the nice tires! They look great. But no more "red rocket" pics of your dogs. HA!

That is a sweet ride!

good lookin' dogs, I hope they still find birds for you! I had a GSP for 14 yrs, and he was a wonderful companion, and a good bird finder. He was one of my guide dogs and the clients loved him. They are a handful though. Nice tires! I have been debating going with the 315, and your truck makes me want to pull the trigger. Congrats!

Nice. It seems like a lot of people are getting new tires lately.:) Got any more pics of the rear of the Cruiser? Preferably w/ the tailgate and hatch closed.:D

Seriously debating these tires too, vs KM2s... I am a fan of the BFGs, but think the MTRs will be better for on road traction in wet, but sheeeeit, they are expensive. Could be worse, could be budgeting for Toyos...

Price for all 5 mounted and balanced?

looks nice .. I'm bit concern about the side wear .. cornering will kill the outside thread that's where you have less tire material ..

Hey Mark,
Looks great.
You are still running heavies right?
On your sliders is that liner or grip tape?

Those look good. Got me some just like that.

For what it is worth, I'm running with fender flares and had some rubbing--but not on the flares. I was rubbing on the inner lip of the steel fender itself (rear) and a bolt up in the front well. Seems better post body lift, but I haven't had the occasion to really stuff them yet.

I've got several thousand miles on mine, and they seem to be holding up well. Wasn't incredibly impressed with them this winter--but I didn't have high expectations either.

I really like your lined rocker panels and fenders. What did you use?

I'll try to avoid that in the future. Whenever Henry sits down...out comes the "red rocket".

Henry (the one on the right) is a hunter. Otis will back Henry naturally but, just has no training...as we just adopted him last summer.

I'll take a few and post tonight.

$1,589.00

I am a pretty slow driver and I don't corner aggressively. I save all that nonsense for when I am behind the wheel of my M5.

Hey Mark,

Well, I am actually running Heavy/Super Heavy (850/864). I carry a lot of weight in the back (always) and Christo suggested the 864's. It is "grip" tape and it is my favorite stuff. I am about to put some on my rear ladder and the rear quarter panel protection bars. It is just great stuff. I always wife the area down with Acetone and let it dry prior...that seems to really help the adhesive backing "stick".

I really like your lined rocker panels and fenders. What did you use?

I used Herculiner...tons of prep work, but it turned out well. There is a thread on here somewhere about all the prep work I did...including laying down three tape lines on top of each other for each coat. I put it on in 2008 and haven't touched it since.

Thanks for all the compliments. I will keep folks posted on the tires as I put more on-road and off-road miles on them. We are supposed to get some wicked weather here in Memphis today and tomorrow...so, I should be able to give some feedback on wet weather traction.

Cheers.
