See you guys tomorrow at 8:30 at Desert Donuts, 3134 W Carefree Hwy A-10, Phoenix, AZ 85086.

And please make sure you have a valid Az Land Trust permit!

**Update** - This trail runs on land that REQUIRES an Arizona State Land Trust Recreation Permit. You can purchase online for $15-20 depending on single or family permits. I just renewed mine and it took less than 5 minutes. Please do not come without a valid permit! There is a link on our home page on the very first stickied portion. And here...

For our April run we’re going to try New River (Road?) up in the north valley. It’s a blue rated trail, but mostly green, and people at the last meeting suggested it may be just a little tougher than Montana Mtn. we did last month but still fairly easy. It’s also in the Charlie Wells 4x4 Guide as Trail #41. It’s listed as 19 miles long and should take about 3-4 hours and we can make our way into Cave Creek afterwards if anyone wants to stop for food or a beverage.

The trail entrance is off I17 and Table Mesa Road on the east side of the 17 but for those coming from the south lets meet at 8:30 am at Desert Donuts, 3134 W Carefree Hwy A-10, Phoenix, AZ 85086.

I’ll post more info as we get a little closer but if you’re interested please chime in.

Thanks,
Wes

This may be where some member had a lot of problems with the law for not having a state trust land permit. If required should point that out. Not sure it is required to just cross state land but want to be sure with all the headaches it caused.

Good call! I just looked again and the first few miles of the trail do indeed require a State Land Trust Permit. There is a link in our "stickied" section and it looks like it still costs only $15-20 depending on single or family. If you plan on attending PLEASE make sure you have a valid permit! It may not come up but could potentially save us a big hassle!

Thanks,
Wes

That is EXACTLY the section where it caused me an issue. This entry point definitely requires a State Trust Land Permit to be on the right side of the Law. Good mentioning that, and your Permit will be good for the year,

Well, this run doesn’t seem to be gaining much traction. 😁

Anyone still interested? I still plan on going…

I'm finishing up Moab prep, if all goes well then I'm in. Got to get on that Land Permit too I guess.

What is the meet up time? Might try to go.

8:30 sat morning at Desert Donuts. The address is in the first post.

You do NEED to have an Arizona State Land Trust permit. That info is in the first post too.

I had a great time! Thanks to Wes for organizing. The trail definitely is rougher on the west side than it has been. But as far as I know, everyone made it through with no damage.

Yes, thanks to everyone that came out, that was a good day!

Here’s Kyle making it look too easy where I nearly tipped my truck on its side…
