Ah! Thanks!
I saw the bullet point holder but my googling never turned up the bulletpoint charger. I didn’t know they made a charger.

After driving around with it all day I just ordered a 2nd one for the other side of the dash.:bounce:

Darn. I now see that the Bulletpoint charger has a 20mm ball on it. Not a 20mm socket.
So I will still need an intermediary between the Offroam mount and it.

Don’t think I’ve seen a MagSafe charger like that before. You need an arm between.

So I ended up buying this use between the offroam mount and my MagSafe charger:

It’s pretty great. And as minimalistic as I can find.

I haven’t off-roaded with the phone mounted, but it all feels very solid. I would recommend.

Is there a consensus on if the Bulletpoint or Offroam magsafe mounts are strong enough to take a decent pothole, and does that require the phone case to be removed if maximum retention is the desired end state without a big multi-arm style mount.

That situation is what caused me to go from magnetic to locking. The magnetic Peak Design mount worked well 99% of the time and was so easy, but if I ever hit anything big or washboard type ruts where the frequency was right, the phone would get flung off with force. Good thing Peak Design made a locking version that works with the same case. A little more work to disconnect, but not hard at all. It's not going anywhere though. You can get it in 1" or 20mm. You do need their case though, their stuff is pricey but high quality.

I can’t speak to any “consensus,” but I just got back from a week of camping using the offroam mount with a cheap amazon MagSafe charger (as pictured above). Mostly forest roads but some actual light off-roading.
Plenty of potholes and washboards.
My phone never fell off.

Then again, I’m not an aggressive driver. My wife tells me I drive like a grandpa. So maybe I have less jarring than others might.

Edit: I should also say that I do not remove the case from the phone. I would think that needing to do that would undermine any gain from the ease of using MagSafe.

I’ve used both offroam and peak design mounts off road, in the desert, at speed, in the whoops, etc and never had the phone come off. I do use a PD case which has crazy strong magnets. But yea I usually have OnX running on my phone and it works like a charm.
