Each driveshaft has a zerk fitting on the shaft body and the u-joints at each end have a zerk in the spider of the joint which can be difficult to see when covered in road grime.

Thanks guys. Getting the car completely serviced tomorrow.

If there is anything you can think of that I should ask the mechanic to look at let me know.

Hey guys. I asked my mechanic about checking the transmission oil and if it looked like it needed to be changed to go ahead and change it now. He told me that the 100 series transmission is a no service tranny and the oil should never be changed so he didn't even bother to check the fluid.

Have any of you heard of this before?

Yes that is what Lexus/Toyota says. It no longer has a dip stick on your 2005. If you don't tow your good. Most owners on Mud change or better said do a fluid "exchange" at about 100k miles. Cheap insurance. Also only have toyota "WS" transmission fluid used. Also NEVER flush your transmission with any cleaner. Only WS fluid should ever enter your transmission. Also your transmission does not have "filters" that need to be changed it has metal mesh. Do a search on transmission fluid exchange lots of info.

Quick question for you guys.

I was reading the DIY oil change thread and one guy there mentioned using the Mobil 1 M1-209 filter instead of the recommended M1-102. He said the m1-209 is same fitment but a larger filter which would help with extended oil changes.

Can anyone confirm the m1-209 filter fits? I'd like to use it if it does fit.

Yes M1-209 fits, same thread but significantly more filter medium than the 102. I grab several 209s when when autozone, or whoever, has them on sale. NAPA (wix) 41516 is also a good (larger than OE spec) option.

Same as @PADDO - the 209 fits the same as the 102.

Some may still be running the OEM filter, though it is no longer available. It appears it was a superior filter.

The current OEM, not so much.
