I'm a big fan of Opinel knives. They work great, are cheap enough to stash one in every car and day pack and they are the classic pack backers knife.

Well they just got a lot better

A bit pricey compared to the originals but more than double the utility.

Favorite picnic knife just got better! I like it!

If it has a corkscrew does it have a normal bottle opener?

Sent from my fancy house phone

leave it to the french to address the important things in life.

aaaah, a big half loaf of country bread, a saucisson, a camembert, a bottle of red, an Opinel, and a tree in the countryside to lean against... all set... :)

You knew what saucisson was but not camembert?

I had to google saucisson

Wiki said:
Saucisson, or "saucisson sec," is a variety of thick, dry cured sausage that originates in France.

OK, I have to explain the bit about the half bread too, then. This dates back to before the baguettes (wimpy little affairs, sheesh...). It's the only correct way of countryside eating. You do this and the old crusty french farmers will forgive you even your plaid shorts and sneakers... And their daughters will take you right there and then into the barn! :D
You take a half bread. It has to be the dark whole wheat thick hard-crusty DIY farm type. You have to hold it with your curved left arm, the flat side up, bread caught between hand and chest. (That is an essential part of the process.) Then you take the Opinel and you cut yourself a thick slice, seesawing under the flat cut side. Then you cut yourself a bit chunk of saucisson (it's not a chorizo, puleeze... ) and go at it, bread in left hand, saucisson in right, alternating between the two, with of course some lubrication with red thrown in there too for good measure. At that point, life is now complete. You could be struck by lightning then and all is still good. You are guaranteed fast entry into the pearly gates... No wait... The burly cherub bouncers will lift the velvet rope for you!
And we're not even yet talking about the next part with the camembert...

Aren't there some good wineries over on 50 and 88?

We should do an LC wagon wine tour sometime, to play with our new toys.

I'm guessing the :princess: :princess: would be all over that run!!!!

Hmm... I don't know man, after 500 years now they want to change the classics? Usually they are pretty smart when it comes to wine and leave well alone... And of course it's really not necessary given that you have to have the bottle half uncorked before you take it into the field, anyway. Gadgets! What is this world coming to? :)

(Did I say you have to drink the red straight from the bottle, btw? Glass not allowed! It all has to fit in a hunting bag. :))
