So I got paid today (I'm still not a rich man), and decided that I would get rid of that stupid exhaust whistle once and for all. Muffler is a 23" Cherry Bomb.

Total cost was ~$110 installed. $40 for the muffler, $70 for install.

Here are the results:

Video: Cherrybomb on a 1991 FJ80

1. Awesome. Sounds like a straight six should. No more whistle :grinpimp:
2-4. Pics (I know the images suck)

more info...
what brand is that?
why is it red?
i just cut off my resonator and have a whistle now so i just added a muffler to my list. i'm considering a flowmaster.

I guess I should have given a bit more info, huh? heh heh...

It's a Cherry Bomb, 23" overall length. Red? I dunno.

Not very loud at all, actually. It's not as loud as a Flowmaster on a chevy... It's got a more aggressive sound than stock. Cost me $40 at CSK/O'Reilly's, $70 to install at a local exhaust shop.

we need some sound clips!!!

You know what's funny... I'm working on getting on right now!

Be patient guys... got a video uploading right now.

there should be a section in FAQ with clips like this.

I'd like to hear a flow master, magnaflow, and other major choices.
Some with and without the resonator would be cool.

Just an idea.

not bad. great price. sounds a little raspy.
i need something with a deeper note that gets rid of the whistle...
thanks for sharing.

Sounds great. I'm in. Doin it.

It does sound a little raspy, but the video quality isn't that great... The real thing sounds much better.

Most glass packs will actually get a bit louder once they have "broken in". It sounds a lot better than stock that's for sure but I don't know that I would want it any louder than that.

That's kinda what I'm hoping for...

ha not loud at all:lol: sounds like a trophy truck:D cool man

Sounds good Lane, I would have never thought of using a cherry bomb on the cruiser. I put one on my Z71 back in the day but it made it quieter than stock, so I went with a flowmaster. The F/M sounded great w/ the 5.7L but I wasn't having to sit on top of it since it was under the bed. I'd imagine a F/M would drone in the land cruiser. Nice work on the Cherry Bomb, sounds great.

nice :)

Interesting sound clip. Does your LC still have a resonator?
