Hello,

I live in North Central Florida and have a 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser. I am not an off roader but enjoy the large engine, smooth ride, and over engineered construction. I enjoy working on my families cars in my spare time and took this high mileage 100 series on as a project of love. I always wanted one but never owned one until now. I hope to gain some great insights from all of you as I figure out how my 02 Land Cruiser works. My goal is to keep her running for another 300K miles (If I can afford the gas, lol).

Happy to have found this forum sight. Now to try to figure out what Transmission Fluid to use on my A343F transmission (Type T-IV or Toyota Transmission and Power Steering Fluid that is Dex III compliant). And should I even attempt a drain and fill since I couldn't find anywhere in the CARFAX history where the transmission had been serviced. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wish I could help…I could not recognize a100 from a 200 to whatever the next number is but put a 40 in my reach… I’m all in. Good luck with your truck. More importantly I stopped by to say welcome to the forum. You will find nearly everything g you could want here by some folks with remarkable capabilities…

if you have really high miles, super dark transmission fluid, or unknown maintenance history... i woudl do a drain & fill, not a flush. You'll get maybe 3 quarts out. Then drive it for another couple thousand miles, and do it again. this is much less risk to the transmission than a complete flush

See Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF) full 12qt flush & set level, 100 series.

Dex III is the spec. Welcome to the wonderful world of old Toyota engineering.
